Well here is something different, after reading alot on the SAR, thanks Pat, and seeing some very nice examples of them, I decided that I would attempt the same, so with that in mind, I decided to try something that I haven't done before, which is to do with the battery boxes, I decided to have a go at folding one in brass, only because I like the scale of it and it is something that I will have to learn at some stage, (pattern making that is), It has not turned out to bad, little rough around the edges, but it is square so that is a start here is the pattern that I used, and here it is folded up Now I will silver solder it together and then make the cover out of the same brass, but in chequer plate so that they become removable and the original The interesting thing about doing the pattern for this is how you have to think in 3D, ie, fold it up in your head before you draw it up, this is the exact size for the SAR,but in 1/16th , should have taken a pic with the exhaust mount next to it

Very cool work with the brass! Thanks But I'm not really sure if I like them at all, brass is a interesting medium to use, so I also made these in plastic and covered in brass chequer plate I used some Kangaroo photo etch cheque plate, and must say it is so easy to work with, folds nice, easy to cut, I find the KFS stuff, a little more springy and it is a little thicker, I will be adding the handles and locks to them soon just have to work out how I am going to make them

Spent a little bit of time today building the batteries for the battery box, here is what I came up with so far, I will also be adding the handles to lift the batteries out, need to find some clear tube for this Here is what I have done so far Can't believe I missed a terminal, which I will fix when I do all the terminal fittings, which I will be carving out of styrene block, then making the solenoid and terminals

Wow!, your scratch building abilities are top notch! I like how you worked the brass battery box, it turned out nice, along with the plastic ones, which ever you decide to use.

Some of the fine speeker wire, has a clear to opauq look, may want to try that for the batt tubes.

Thanks for the replies guys I have started to make the terminals and adding a bit of detail like battery handles, I think the terminals are a little big, may still swap these for some scratch built brass ones What do you guys think?

They might be a tick big, but they look great.
