Been working away at a 1/25 replica of this classic New England tractor, short nose (92" BBC) Road Boss. Photo from Kim Loeb's collection on Hank's Truck Pictures: Something of a "Heinz 57" project, in addition to the basic Road Boss kit parts from other kits include: AMT mack R battery boxes, Titan/90 front wheels, non-turbo Cummins & trans from White Freightliner DD, rear axle/springs from Ford LN. Fifth wheel from Dodge L700 kit, quarter fenders from Transtar 4300 (with a bit of rework): 1/2" styrene tube formed the basis for air cleaner:

Kit dash reworked slightly, .040 styrene sheet doghouse: Interior complete except for stick at this point: Slowly getting there, still a lot of finish work to do yet though!

Looking really nice! This has given me some ideas for my short-nosed Road Boss. Attachments:

Both that tanker rig and the scene would make superb models! Interesting variety of cars in parking lot, not to mention a classic American service station.
Twin stacks on this "Boss" - Detroit powered?

Now THAT is a great idea! 'Never thought about shortening one of those up to make a typical short-haul rig like the one you're building! VERY NICE WORK!

It's possible that there's an 8V71 under there, but I'm not sure. This is the only photo I have of it, and I got it off of Hank's. I know the hood is shorter than the kits, but I'm not sure how short. Looks like you're doing a 92" BBC, and the kit is a 122" BBC. Mine might be a 108" BBC, but, again, I'm not sure. It's hard to tell as it's not a very clear photo.

"Weedburner" exhaust made from styrene tube & strip, exhaust pipe from kit sprue, aluminum tube tailpipe. "Pop-off" marker lights often seen on Whites of this era made using AMT's kit lenses on .015 styrene disk (made with Micro-Mark minature punch set) painted black. Testors clear parts cement used for assembly & attachment to cab roof.

Coming along really nicely.
Penn Yan Express used to run short nosed Brockways with weedburner exhausts. Apparently the owner didn't like dirty trailers.

Hi
nice work on that littel one all the details look grate on that truck. especially the under frame exaust gives him a special look. by the way do you have any broshures for that White or are you building it just out of your mind? I have to start my one in the next days but I do not find any information especially on that short nose whites, that is why I am asking.

Thats a cool little rig, ive never seen a short nose road boss before. Nice work on the model too, awsome detail and build quality. Can you give me some pointers on bending aluminium pipe like you did on your tail pipe, ive tried a couple of things but didnt turn out as good as yours, Cheers Dan
