I started this one last summer as just something to tinker with when I needed a break from other projects. It's the Revell Snap 359 with some modifications.
Most of my progress has been with frame modification. I removed the molded-on rear suspension, and replaced it with the susp
from a Revell of germany Pete 359. Several items from the Revell AG Pete 359 will be used. The steer axle(installed after the pic was taken) and steering gear box, as well as the fuel tanks come from the German kit also. Also, the shaft from the steering gear box to the axle has been replaced with K and S brass tube since the pic was taken.
Air ride susp. It was a challenge cuttng the suspensions away from their frames, but i like how it turned out so far. The black parts are from the Revell AG 359(Black Magic) kit.
>:(This has been a royal pain in the, ummmm...., taillights . lol. I have had to redo the putty on these several times to get rid of that awful seam on an otherwise nicely cast pair of fuel tanks.
I'm not sure if they will be Alclad or body color yet. I keep changing my mind. The sanding is at least done.
Another frame modification I made was to add the bottom flange to the frame rails, as only the top flange is present. It is light gray Plastruct .030" sheet that's been cut to width and length. I will have to redo one of them. I'm not sure if you could see it in the pic. The challenge was cutting these to the right width.
Here is the Detroit Diesel Silver 92 from an AMT KW K100 Aerodyne kit. It needs more detail, but here it is so far.
The transmission is from the Black magic Peterbilt.
I hate the lack of a visor with these snap kits, so I took a revell of germany pete 359 visor, and modified it and the cab. It's a nice fit. It just takes a little grinding, that's all.
just grind the corners of the visor as shown, until the plastic is fairly thin.
Then grind/sand the cab corners here where the visor gets glued.
...and the final result....
It's not officially glued in place, just a drop for test fitting.
I have a paintjob in mind for it and everything. Now just to press onward. I have made some minor interior mods. No pix yet, though.
Thanks for looking.
