The boys in the TSF shop have there work cut out for them this time. It seems one of those yahoo drivers went an totaled out there "city service" tractor. for the time being they are getting by in a long haul tractor , but he needs a new truck. Management, not being really thrilled with this guy and times being tough decided to rebuild an old truck vs buy a newer one. well this old Pete was sitting behind the shop. It was bought quite a while ago, used for a month as it was and then when a new set of drives were needed for one of the other trucks it was parked and robbed. this truck was cheaper at auction than what a good set of drives would have cost. too bad the hack who removed them never planned on this one being repaired. the rear rails are a mess, lucky for our guys the rear rails from the crashed truck seem to be ok, as well as the drives. the ol detroit screamer was runnin good, but it will get cleaned up in the refurb prosses, as will the interior as it was kinda nasty. Management thinks they can build this truck from what is around and have a lot of truck for the money. I think they are thinking about selling it if there are any cutbacks. OOH well as always the shop is over worked.. this ones all parts box. rear of the frame is from the diamond reo. main frame is a pete cab over frame and the cab is from a wrecker I want to shorten up and make a cab over. just to be different.

somebody needs to tell me what year it is. I know this is the OLD one and that it was updated when they re tooled the cab and put the six in the kit. I dont know Petes, I just know it was a cab i didnt have a plan for. I may build this as a single rear axle.I Don't know if they made those but it would fit what im building it as. I couldn't care less about unit number but ill be in touch

somebody needs to tell me what year it is. Yes a single axle will be ok,it would be a 259 insteed of a 359.I think those cabs started in '63,but I know they ended in '72.That kit came out in '69.The wide nose about '68,so from '68 to '72 wold be ok,pick a year. Kevin

there looks to be a chance it may still be a 359 with an air ride setup. found a whole frame with all 3 axles intact. ends snapped off, but i cut em flush an drilled em for metal rods. I do like the idea of the 259 tho. cause its something different.

this ones back on the bench again. after finishing my Pete wrecker I lok at the calender and see that my building season has about a month to go. by mid march i should be outside working on my race car instead of in the basement. so I see I just don't have the time to build my big fancy wrecker, that will have to sit till next fall. I may while working on this one also build a 40 ford delivery as a 1960s shop vehicle. im not into fords, but i do like the oldies. Ive got the kit sitting here and it seams to me that its a no brainer for our colors. ill post some work tonight or later this week

Love the story. And how Many times has it been true for so many fleets. Lol. I worked for a guy who had about 60 trucks, and 100 trailers. One of the trucks he built consisted of 3 trucks from what was becoming known as "Death-Row". At the time, there were 6 trucks in that group. All wrecks.

HELLO ? ;)what happened here did this project get pushed back around the corner behind the shed ! unfortunately its been almost a year now since ive been able to build at all. I spent the whole spring last year working on my race car, struggled with that much of the summer as i could. then in august my wife filed divorce. once she and her kids had moved out i got the remodeling bug. Ive just gutted my kitchen, once that gets put back together i will get back to the bench. hopefully may. I am not racing this year so that will not keep me away. I do have two other projects going that may go before this one. there is also a good chance that i will do an oob car to get back in the swing of it.
