Hi All, might anyone have any knowledge of the kit below? I cannot find it on the net, I am trying to work out what scale it is - it appears to be a scarce kit? Cheers tBear

That is a pretty good kit for its age. It's 1/48 scale. Revell came out with it and a Moving van version with Bekins decals in the 50's. I built the reissue of it in the mid 90's and it went together great.
Cheers:

Cheers thanks Bill, I take it this is the re-issue, did it come out in the 80s or 90s?

That is a cool kit, I wish they made one in 1:25 scale. Those old kenworths are my favorite trucks. Dave

The kit you have looks like a European release. The kit I built as a reissue came out in 1997 if I recall. It had a reproduction of the original art work on the box. Here is what the original box art was. Hope this helps. Cheers: Bill

I bought a couple of those when they were re-issued back in the late 90's. 'Pretty decent level of detail considering plastic kits in general hadn't been around all that long. Revell also re-released their old White 3000/Mobile tanker kits about that same time... They are close to 1/48 scale, but not exactly that. Many of the kit manufacturers back in the 50's and 60's molded their stuff in what they called "box scale". Basically it meant they made the models to fit in the boxes rather than make the boxes fit the models! You saw this a lot with the old Aurora and Linberg airplane kits from that era....

Would love to see this kit back on the shelves! Narrow nose Kenworth.......classic! I had the White 3000 as a youngster, recently bought a couple of the reissued version from Model Express. Agreed with you on "box scale", I think the 3000 is closer to 1/64 than 1/48, I say that because I was eyeing up the spoke wheel/tire parts for use on a 1/43 project idea and they were a lot smaller than the 1/43 kit parts. That's OK, the White 3000 is another classic and a fine model in its own right.
