Simply amazing! How in the world does someone come up with an idea to build something like this? AND THEN ACTUALLY BUILD IT!?!?!
I can almost smell the gear oil and wood burning stove.
I really like the repaired "safety" guard on the larger spool. Details like this make it so much more realistic.

That's huge! Great job. Where do you keep something that big? Did you build it for a museaum display?

It will when finished, go into a glass cabinet I have as a logging diorama with the truck one of my older Cat builds and a few loggers and crew around her for display in my new shop which I am building this year.

Most of the pictures I found of this type unit was sketchy as far as size and measurements go, so being an ex logger I had to do a lot of estimates by comparison to recognizable equipment and objects around the machine. This gives me an idea of the size of the machine, to get it within reasonable scale to build. The unit this was modeled off of just happened to have a Cat and Arch sitting in front of it in the photo and being an ex Cat skinner knowing the dimensions of a Cat and Arch I went from there.

Amazing! What a piece of machinery. You should be a member of logging industry´s Hall Of Fame if there is any. Great work.

Do they have one on the Williams River by Chiloquin? Mike Mike I've heard of this one too through the grapevine and also there is supposed to be one at Chiloquin as you stated. The state of Oregon is supposed to have the biggest collection of these rigs all over the state, in out of the way places. I got a message from a guy over by Hines, Oregon after I wrote that reply about the mill and he said most of the old equipment Hines Lumber Company had like this is still in the Strawberry Mountain region above Bend. How true it is I don't know but one things for sure they bring a lot of old equipment out every month here they find by chance. The one I am building here was from a series of pictures from Northern California out by Weaverville in that area. From what I seen of the photos it looked like Rattlesnake flats out by Hayfork, over the mountain from the Ruth Lake Van Duzen River area. William
