Hi guy's!
For a future project (Ford LTL 9000), I'm looking out for a CAT engine. I think, all CAT's were yellow, like their excavators, etc., too. But did they also made V- engines, too, or can I take the Italeri standard engine for it (as far as I know, that shall be a Detroit)?
Does anyone has have a photo of such an engine?

There were 2 cat engines produced for models that were V8's. AMT had it in the Ford Louisville kits and Revell had them in the KW W900 kits.

Hi Todd!
Hmmm.... Revell is 1:25 and I have one in stock. But I think I can use a block of a Scania V8, turn the oilpan and make new cylinders on it. How was the displacement of such a CAT V8 and how many HP it had?
I'm looking for pics in my data's...

The Revell of Germany engine is a Caterpiller 3408TA, and for the Ford I'd use yellow. Another option is the Caterpiller 3406A from the Revell USA snap Kenworth W900 Aerodyne or Peterbilt 359.
From the factory, the Catgerpiller 3808 was rated at either 400 or 450hp, but apparently they could be "tuned up" to 500hp relatively easily.

Thanks, Jim!
The snap kits ar not in offer here (I'd never seen one). Iwill take the Scania engine as basic and modify it. There is enough space under the hood of the Ford for it.
