Need advice. I will be building my first trailer soon and would like to recreate the look of polished stainless steel. I haven't done much custom work before so I'm not sure how to accomplish this. I've searched here for tips but haven't seen any. Maybe I overlooked it? If anyone has any tips on this it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi, You could use Aclad2 Stainless steel lacquer this has to be sprayed on or chrome foil this is self adhesive. I used foil on a ertl trailer a few years back, If i can find a pic i`ll post it here. Graham.

Cool. I'd like to see it. I've almost decided that the foil is the way I want to go. Is it hard to work with? I've never used it before.

Heres the pics of the Great Dane by Ertl, I built this last century. Its covered in chrome vinyl. Its best applied before assembly on a flat clean surface, Cut a piece slightly bigger than needed. I worked from left to right peeling off the backing about 2 inches at a time & rubbing down with a clean cloth avoiding trapping air. A old t shirt is good. Then trim off overlap. Practice first. Hope this helps. Graham.

That's a sharp looking trailer. I believe that is the way I'll go. Thanks for the advice and the pic.

I am working on a stainless steel Great Dane reefer at the moment. I started with an AMT Great Dane reefer and a Fruehauf van trailer. I cut the sides out of both trailers, and used the front, rear, top, and bottom rails from the Great Dane, then glued the ribbed sides from the Fruehauf in. I painted the top and bottom rails with "aluminum" silver, then covered the "stainless" parts with bare metal foil. I'm not quite done with it, but it is looking pretty good so far:
