Last monday was my Birthday and I was talking to one of the other bus drivers at my company I work for and we were talking about model trucks. He told me he had a couple AMT kits that he had sitting around and wasn't interested in building anymore. I told him that I would be interested in them if he didn't want them. Well saturday he stopped by my apartment with this big box of model parts. All trucks that he threw parts into when he found them. No original kit boxes or decals but the instructions were there. All the parts were thrown together so I started to sort them out by instruction sheets at around 10am saturday morning. When he brought the box I asked him what he wanted for it and he said Happy Birthday and left. He said if he finds anymore he will give them to me at work. Here is what I got out of the box so far. AMT T502 Peterbilt 352 Cabover. AMT T504 Ford LNT-8000 Tractor. ( 2 of these ) AMT T509 Chevy Titan 90 Cabover. AMT T520 Kenworth K-123 Cabover. AMT T527 White Road Boss Conventional. AMT T553 MACK Cruise-Liner Cabover. AMT T555 White Freightliner Dual Drive. AMT T558 GMC Asto 95 Cabover. AMT/Ertl #PK6129 MACK R-Series. AMT/Matchbox #PK6112 MACK Cruise-Liner Cabover. (Broken window post)(with decals) Ertl #8025 International Transtar 4300 Conventional. (cab different color) Ertl #8000 International Transtar CO-4070A. (complete with 2 piece tires and decals inside instructions) I still have more parts to sort through so who knows what else I will find. I didn't get any kits for Christmas but this sure fixed that for my birthday.

I think this is the best birthday gift I ever received. I'm still sorting parts and about 1/2 way through the box.

I think this is the best birthday gift I ever received. I'm still sorting parts and about 1/2 way through the box. Seriously! IO wouldn't mind getting my hands on a CO-4070A myself. I have the CO-4070B Transtar II, so the 4070A would be a nice addition.

I wish he didn't remove most of the parts from the trees. A person can go batty sorting through all the parts to make up kits. Then he brought me a smaller box with more parts in it. I may get them sorted by my 55th birthday.

The deeper I dig in the box the cooler the parts I find. I was able to create 3 more complete kits so far. ERTL #8017 IH Transtar Eagle 4070B Cabover. AMT T567 Ford C-900 Tilt Cab. AMT T515 Short Hauler Ford (POP's Produce with decals) I have not even looked in the second box I got from him. Now I need to buy more little ziplock bags. I only have a couple left.

I was talking to him at the job about being off so much this past month. 2 weeks during Christmas, then go back to work for 2 days 1/5 & 1/6 then the cold spell came in and the schools closed for the last 3 days of the week 1/7 - 1/9. Giving us another 5 days off. My Birthday was Monday the 12th. and we got to talking about what we did during the extra days off. I told him I was tinkering with some model trucks I had and he was working on redoing his basement. When I told him about the models he said he had some old AMT kits that he had laying around and wasn't interested in building anymore. I told him I was interested if he wanted to sell them. He said he had to get them together and he would let me know what he found. Well last Saturday 1/17 he came to my apartment with a big box. Inside were parts gallor. He said he didn't have the original boxes anymore from the dampness in the basement but he put the instructions in a plastic box so they wouldn't get wrecked. He went and dumped all the parts in one box and brought it over. I asked him what he wanted for them parts and he said Happy Birthday and left. Then we didn't have school 1/19 for Martin Luther King Day and again 1/23 or end of semester at the schools. There was another 3 day week. Well on this past Saturday he stopped by again with another box of parts which is not as big as the 1st one but full to the top again. Some parts are on tree's and a lot of them removed from the tree's. Now I need to go to the store to get more zipper bags because I ran out of them. I used up my bags getting this last one kit together. I'm glad I had the talk with this guy when I did or he would have probly thrown the whole works out to the trash. AMT/ERTL #6643 "Movin' On" Kenworth W-925 (with decals)
