My name is Win and I'm still trying to figure out this website but I suppose it will come with time. I'm not even sure where this reply is going to go. Anyway...I drove truck nationwide and parts of Canada for 47 years and retired in 2005. The amazing thing is that I have had the same wife all this time. I guess she thought I was a "keeper" even if I did drive truck. I built my first model when I was in the Navy, on an island in the Pacific in 1956. I'm not sure what size it was but it was a Kenworth conventional with a low boy trailer and a shovel. I dabbled in plastic models over the years but never got serious again until I retired. I build cars, pickups, monster trucks etc. but my main interest is commercial trucks. I am not into reworking the models or scratch building but I will put different paint schemes on them and make my own decals if I don't care for the ones that come with the kit or add a "pogo stick" and airlines. There are a lot truck models offered but I would like to see the old Diamond T (before it became Diamond Reo), Brockway, White Freightliner (this was when White marketed Freightliner so it had White Freightliner on the emblem), Marmon-Harrington (later Marmon), Hayes, etc. etc. I think that it would be great if one of these model manufactuers went back in time to the chain drive era for Mack, f*geol (the predecesor of Peterbilt) and Sterling. Catch you later.

Who ( whom ) did you drive for? Anyway welcome to the forum, great bunch of guys here you will find good answers to any and all of you questions here. A heck of a lot better than we did on the road or from the dispatchers. ;D Jeff

Hi Plastic Trucker. Thanks for the welcome. I looked up Seagrave in the Atlas and that's interesting as in the late '60's I hauled machinery out of Boise, Idaho and would occasionally take a load to St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. I would go into Canada at Detroit and run highway 401 to Montreal then east to St. Hyacinthe so I went fairly close to Seagrave.
The websites that I use only have trucks that are around now such as Pete's, KW's, Volvo's, Western Star, Scandia etc. I haven't even found an International of any kind. In fact I have only found two KW's and those are the cabover and Australian tractors. I have been able to get the Astro 95 and Autocar but no others. Do you have any sources for other makes? I prefer AMT or Revell but would use other kits if they are good quality. I prefer 1/24 or 1/25 size. You can email me at truckindude2@comcast.net if you want to.
I don't know how the star got in the word f*geol in my introduction bu I'm sure it was operator error.LOL I tried to edit it but no luck so I guess it's there to stay.
Take care, Win

Hi Jeff...I want to thank you also, for the welcome. Sounds like there are still some of us "old school" drivers hanging around and that's good.
Any answer is better than one from a dispatcher. I think in order to be a dispatcher you had to go to a week of lying training.LOL Congrats on your 32 years with the same "honey".
I started driving in 1958, out of Twin Falls, Idaho for Wagner Transportation (11 Western), Hunter Produce (Twin Falls, Idaho- Idaho,Nevada, California) Don Hulme (Hagerman, Idaho, Idaho, Nevada, California), Oppel Harvester (Boise, Idaho, machinery nationwide and Canada), ,N.A.C.A. (Ontario, Oregon, frozen and general freight, nationwide). In 1974 I moved my family to Utah and drove for IML(LTL freight, nationwide) got layed off in 10 months, Utah Carriers (flat bed, nationwide), TSI (leased to F-B Trucklines, 11 western). I was an O/O from 1981 to 1983 leased first to Freeport Transport, Clearfield, Utah (flatbed nationwide, then to Pre-Fab Transit, Farmersville, Illinois (flatbed, nationwide). Sold the truck then went to work for Diehl Lumber in Salt Lake (flatbed, 11 western, British Columbia and Alberta, Canada). From there I went to Coca Cola, in Salt Lake, (dry van, running Colorado, Idaho, Montana, and Arizona). After 5 years with Coke, Ryder took over the transportation and I hung in for another 2 years and said a Charlie Pride...adios, sayonara, goodbye. Then went to Kimberly-Clark (the diaper folks) satilite terminal out of Ogden, Utah (dry van nationwide). When they closed down their private fleet, I went to work for Swift Transportation, Salt Lake terminal doing locals in Salt Lake Valley. I was at Swift when I retired.
Talk to you again, Jeff. You can send me e-mail if you want to at truckindude2@comcast.net
