Scrap that hood and front bumper and it can be a nice truck.

Oh come on that thing is cool. The grill is retro, taken from International's late 1930 pick up hood. I can't wait to see one up close in person. Rest assured I will have my camera ready too. I also can't wait to see if Miller Enterprises puts a 60 ton rotator on the back of one cause I think it would make one kick a___ wrecker. I also believe it will give Kenworth and Peterbilt a run for there money in sales since it is a lot more stylish than the fantasic plastic T2000 and 387. It sure would be nice if a model manufacture would pick up the rights to put one out in plastic too. If that were to happen you could sign me up for a case or two.

That would have to grow on me, but I like it better than the T2000.

That front end looks straight out of those cheap cartoons they run on tv now. Its too art deco for me. Looks like someone in an International rearended one of those ugly 1930s concept cars I would like it with the current 9900ix hood, or a current Transtar hood.

Looks like an experiment between Chrysler amd International went very, very, bad. That grill work looks like something off of a P.T. Cruiser on steroids.

The interior is nice. I think I will end up liking most of the new trucks only from the inside, but once I get out of the cab, it's a different story. That's the way I felt about the T2000. I drove one for two months. I hated the exterior, and the only reason I was happy to be assigned to one was because it had a stack, whereas all of our other trucks had the "Weedburner" exhaust. Anytime our other trucks were blowing smoke, it was in people's faces. It was the worst at start-up. Getting back to my main point, though, I did like the interior of the T2Ugly overall, minus 2 or 3 little things. As for this Lonestar, I don't totally hate it, but it's not my first choice right now. Then again, I hated the Century, and grew to like the way it looks. I'll reserve the final word for when I've seen a few on the road, if it grows on me more.

That's daring of the IH engineers. The first to bring the big trucks over the threshold and into the new milineum. Not just part of the way, ALL THE WAY! Bravo is the only word to describe and I like it alot!! Bruce

I agree. I thought the "Prostar" was pretty cool when they came out with it..but they really outdid themselves with the Lonestar. I would expect more from the big 2 ( Paccar and Frieghtliner) but they both just make subtle changes ...nothin really "NEW" since the T600/T2000 or the CenturyClass ...the Coronado maybe...the Cascadia maybe...Kenworth hasnt done much but update the T660 headlights...maybe they have been too busy with the EPA regs and the afterburner exhaust stacks LOL!!
Now if we can just get them to build a new cabover..hmmmmm

Do you guys know DCP is already making a diecast Lonestar!!
Why dont we get those guys to start making plastic...they make some really cool metal and they stay up to speed with the new stuff....they could really corner the market on new stuff , instead of us guys getting all excited about building a reissued version of a 20 year old truck , we could be making new rigs... and I am sure they would spark the interest of the new generation too !
Of course my kids wont touch it unless it has a XBox controller sticking out of the sleeper..HA!!

I will agree that International was brave. It takes a lot of money to invest in tooling, design, and manufacture when it comes to a new model. You have to hope when you unvail it that enough people will buy it. As 4 Peterbilt and KW, I think they are well aware that there is a certain kind of customer that goes to them for a truck, as do each of the manufacturers. There probably will always be those who, like me, have a preference toward the classic design. That doesn't mean that improvements should never be made. I loved the 1st generation of aerodynamic trucks because of the blend of new and old. Pretty much all of the newer trucks(even the T2Ugly) have grown on me. I actually like the 387 better. It's basically the same truck, but I like how Peterbilt added the extra curve in the roofline. Looks almost like it's a separate cab and sleeper.
