My daily tranport is a 1963 Corvan,Paid $900. for it in 1976,it goes to my yard, job sites, the ocean to go fishing,to home depot and even to Virginia a few times. What is it worth today? Probbly not much more than I paid for it. Paul Paul, I have a question for you though. What is a Corvan? Is it related to the Corvair. Win This is a factory pic, I'll shot some mine tomorrow. It is one of the 4 Corvair commercial chassis. It is bare bones....single speed wipers, one bucket and sun visor, cigar lighter, and gasoline heater. No radio, bachk up lights or other options. I upgraded it to a 180 h.p. turbo motor, 4 speed,3:89 posi, radial tires and gas shocks. It's a blast to hang on the tail of a kid in a Honda in corners. Paul

Love the Ford! My buddy had one of those. It was white over some off color of orange. It still had the "reverb" (sp?) on the AM radio. The first time I heard the radio I thought what in the? It was the in-thing back in the 60's I guess. 455 Rocket...nice project car. I envy you guys that live in the none salted highway states. ALot more around to restore. I had 2 '64 Impala HT's and a '65 SS 396. That car flat out would fly! King of the Idiots here, I do not and have not had any of these for over 20 years now. Wish I knew now what I thought I knew then. My B-I-L had a '63 SS that he traded in on a '69 Super Bee 383. He is in the same boat as me. That Bee could get places fast too. I remember the first time I got to sit in the drivers seat. I was in Jr Hi, the speedo went to 150 and I was "hi" looking at that and just sitting still. Funny how I can remember this stuff like it was yesterday but I cannot remember yesterday. Bruce The yellow 'Cuda was added right before I posted so I missed that. "Sweet" from the Mopar guys commercials comes to mind. Very nice ride!!

That looks like an air starter tank on the old CF truck. Is it still hooked up?
I see for sale on the side window of the Pete. What are your plans for it?

Win Oh yea the old freightshaker is still an airstart truck! I love it! THe pic of the pete is where it was sitting when I bought it, it will be restored, I have done quite a bit to it already, it is partialy dissasembled now, I have blasted the frame and painted it, and started putting a few things back together. I hope to get the CF truck finnished this summer and then get to busting butt on the pete next year. Jim

That's awesome, Jim. I hated those air starters. Never used one but would be asleep in a truck stop and once in awhile a truck (CF or whoever) would pull in some time then go to leave and hit that starter and it would make you sit right straight up in bed. Are you going to do the Freightliner in CF colors? Also, CF was famous for 318 Detroits and 5 speed main trans., no auxillary. What does it have? Is it a White Freightliner or Freightliner. I'm just full of questions aren't I. You might want to be careful...I see the cab latch is not engaged . Win

Win My truck is a little odd, it was a tag axle truck when new, it has the 903 cummins in it with a 6 speed, wedge brakes, and just loaded with goodies! It even has a tac, oil pressure guage, air pressure guage, and temp guage!, that is it, there are no toer guages on teh dash, CF liked their trucks CHEAP! yes it is going back in CF colors with its sign board on the side, stripes, and numbers. I talked to a guy that worked for CF and knew my truck, he knew alot of the history on my truck and knew of it being a tag axle truck when new, then having it removed later in life, it also was used as a tripples tractor for awhile, so mine has a pretty cool history. I have a huge collection of CF stuff, I am currently the high bidder on a CF trailer on ebey, I have a dolly already, I hope to put together a set of doubls eventually for taking to truck shows. Jim

Jim, That would really be something to put it all together with a set of joints. The truck must have been an odd ball with all those guages 'cause if I remember right (and that's a toughy 'cause I have "old timers disease" at times), CF had speedo, water temp, oil, and air pressure and that was about it. All that plus a 6 speed main...man, pretty fancy. Wasn't the 903 a V8 and a real oil spreader. P.I.E. had a few of those and that's how I remember them as being. What you need is the experimental turbine that CF had that ran between L.A. and Seattle. But I'm sure it is long gone as I'm going to guess that was in the 60's, but I've been wrong before...more often than not. ;D ;D Do you know what terminal your truck was domiciled at? My brother might know the number as he drove for CF for 10 years out of the Hayward, California terminal from '60 to '70. I drove for I.M.L. when I came to Utah in '74 and they had what was called JiffLock portable tag axle and they put more of their trucks in the ditch than stayed on the road. Is that what yours had or do you know. Catch you later, Win

I am not sure what terminal my truck is from, it was renumbered when the tag was cut off and that is where the trail goes cold, the guy that I talked to knew the numbering system and that is how he knew my truck was a tag axle truck, they had the last 4 didgets begining in 20 so that is that, mine was a regular tag, not a jifflock, I would however love to have a jifflok tractor with teh setup, as would I love to have the turbine truck, or one of the old IH or KW cabovers they tried out years ago, like my name says I am a CFnutcase, it has gotten out of hand in the last few years, but that is OK, I have lots of room, so let the collection grow! :-[Jim
