I picked up the latest issue of Model Cars Magazine yesterday when I stopped by my hobby shop to get more paint for my Astro project. When I saw the headlines on the cover of the shows being covered in the current issue, I was really looking forward to seeing some cool commercial projects represented inside. Imagine my dissapointment when, after browsing through the mag I could count the big rigs on one hand. Now, I don't travel from show to show, but I know there has got to be some killer big rigs at these shows that should be put into print. Trucks like Mark's flamed Pete come to mind as well as others that I have seen here are far more than worthy of garnering recognition, yet these beautiful trucks are snubbed at every turn. I'm not saying there should be a ton of pics of big rigs, but there should be a fair amount of coeverage, yet it's sorely lacking. It's sad when we can't even see an image of the winning truck in the heavy commercial class put into print. Am I the only one missing something here?

That's one of the reasons I quit buying MCM and SAE. I used to look forward to seeing different trucks in them. Now when I stop in my lhs, I just scan thru the mags to see what's In it. The last one I bought had an article about weathering--that was the reason I bought it.

Exactly Jerry. I wish I had taken a few minutes to browse through the mag yesterday before I wasted my $5.00. That was another can of paint I could have bought for my next truck project. Oh well, at least there are places like this that don't cost anything, (at least for now), where we can get all the eye candy we want!

If I remember correctly "Model Trucking Illustrated" was having problems selling advertising space to pay for the production costs. I subscribed from start to demise, still have those issues somewhere! As much as it bothered me to loose a truck model magazine, all subscribers were refunded the balance of their subscriptions. That publication was run by some stand up people! Really sucks that it didn't work out. Truck Model World (TMW) published in Great Britain, is a good publication. I have taken some heat in the past on this comment (very little U.S. coverage and cost). But, TMW is the only current magazine dedicated to model trucks. Although those of us who subscribe to TMW will agree on the coverage and the cost issues. Many of the articles in TMW have universal appeal and are quite informative. One must remember, anyone can submit an article (and get paid if published) so the content of TMW can be changed to reflect the worldly nature it's name implies. Publisher, Peter White always welcomes articles submitted on U.S. and Australian Trucks (show coverage and product reviews/news as well). I say give TMW a shot! With the ups and downs of truck model sites and the fact that I can't take my computer in the "library", it's good to have some model publications to go with Wheels Of Time, Engine Builder, Street Rodder and others in the "library".

I used to buy Overdrive and American Trucker just for the models in them, Overdrive more so. Then all of a sudden, gone! Truckstops don't carry periodicals anymore, or at least the ones I've been in. I haven't bought SAE in years and never bought MCM.

That's the same reason I stopped my subscription to SAE. It started going down hill when they stopped Light Commercial.
