I have thought about how I would word this post for the past several days and after talking with Mark this evening I knew I had to say something for everyone to read. I will warn everyone now what I have to say probably isn't going to sound the nicest and definitely won't be politically correct, so put your armor on and listen up.
First of all, I want to thank the member here who came up with the idea for a shirt dedicated to this forum. It was a brilliant idea and one I was all for. Unfortunately, the majority of the members here missed the boat entirely regarding what the purpose of this idea was for. The main goal was to design something for everyone here to be able to wear with pride to not only show they belonged to this forum, but to also promote it and have a new way of being recognized here.
Instead, what did we have happen? We had a bunch of people start getting sidetracked by what truck was going to go on the shirt to the point of being excessive in their postings. We all have different tastes in trucks and are partial to one manufacturer or another. Who friggin cares in the end?
So, we had another member take the initiative and locate an online vendor who can put any truck or design on the shirt of your choice and I'll be damned if people aren't still in a wad trying to figure out how to get a shirt. Can I ask a question here? What the hell is so damned hard about going to a website, submitting a pic, artwork, or whatever and ordering a shirt the way YOU want it? It amazes me that an 11 year old, yes, I said an 11 year old, can come up with such a brilliant idea only to have a bunch of grown men turn it into a major goat rope. For God's sake, click on the link in the damned post, follow the instructions for ordering your shirt and just friggin DO IT!!!! It's not a hard concept but yet it's one we seem to be having a hard time following here.
And, while I'm ranting, I want to touch on a couple other subjects that have gotten me a tad riled. I made the suggestion when this t-shirt idea came about of having someone take a few minutes and design a logo for this forum. Not one single person stepped forward to offer to donate their time and talent. I find it very hard to believe with so many people who are talented enough to cast their own parts, design their own decals and God knows what else, that there is noone here who has the ability to design a neat little logo for us to be identified with universally. To me it just shows a lack of pride and interest in the forums and site. And, before anyone asks why I haven't done it, I will tell you. My computer does not have the capability to do it and I don't have the programs to accomplish this feat. If I did, I would gladly put something together.
Something else I think everyone needs to realize is the website is not currently online. It wasn't long ago that I posted that something needed to be done with the site or it would go away. I had a bunch of members cry about it going away and I even asked a member here for a copy of Microsoft Front Page so I could start building a decent site that we all could take pride in. After being promised a copy, it never happened so the site is currently still offline and dead. It seems kinda stupid to put an internet link on a t-shirt that doesn't even work, don't you think?
Many of you probably think I'm raving like a lunatic, but I'll be honest. I get sick and tired of gathering input and trying to do what the majority of the members here want, or at least those that actually show enough of an interest to provide feedback, only to end up back in the same boat we were in before the feedback was gathered.
Many people here have suggested we actually turn this forum into an online club rather than just a forum and website. While that is an option, to be honest, I am not inclined to go that route until we can all get on the same damned page, which is something we haven't been able to do without hassle after hassle since this forum's inception. Nobody wants to see anything go away or anything change, but when it comes right down to it, everyone expects someone else to put in the time and effort to keep things going. While there have been a few, and I stress FEW that have offered their assistance, everyone needs to know it takes more than just becoming a moderator to make this place work.
So, here is what Mark and myself would like to see happen:
1. A logo designed for this forum so we can be easily identified as members of this community.
2. Someone with internet website and HTML experience or at least a copy of Microsoft Front Page they can forward to me so we can get the damned website going.
3. Stop making everything so damned difficult. Let's get on the same page and stop looking like monkeys f*****g a football here. Let's start taking pride in this place and make it better than it is now.
Again, I am sure I probably upset a few individuals, but honestly, I don't give a rat's ass right now. I've been getting steamed for the past several months about all the goings on and I want to see it get better here and not have everything turn into such a headache. From CBP's to website ideas to t-shirts, everything gets turned into a massive undertaking when it shouldn't be. K.I.S.S. comes into play here. Let's employ it to make things work.
Any questions? Feel free to ask and I'll be happy to clarify. I think I've been pretty clear though, but who knows....
