As many of us can see, we've garnered many new members over the past year. We are reaching the 500 member mark and many of the new members have inquired about when the next CBP might take place, or if there is even going to be anymore CBP's here. It's been awhile and I'll be the first to admit, I still have an Astro kit to finish as well as the Bison kit from the 1st CBP. Time and space have really slammed me hard this past year and my truck kits went into storage where dozens were destroyed when they were crushed by much heavier boxes. But, I digress. I am tossing this idea out to our membership. If anyone would like to see a CBP for 2010, speak up and voice your ideas and we can see what happens. With the hundreds of memebrs we have here, we should come up with some pretty neat ideas. I'm open to ideas and suggestions, so let's hear 'em!

I might be up for a CBP. I think I'll even finish my Astro by the end of this year! Buy I digress as well. How about a Fleet Truck Build? You know, a no frills tractor (fleet trailer optional) that all of us see every day. They work day in & day out delivering the goods. You could do a doubles tractor, a 4x2 tractor, a 6x4 tractor, or, for the real adventurous, a Jifflox tractor. There are lots of trucking companies out there, and you could even build a Fallen Flag. How about it?

I'd love to build a replica of the FLD120 I drove for Swift years ago. Don't know of any decals for that truck though.

Check with Brad Johnson over at Modeltruckin.com I don't think he has them, but he could probably make them. Swift is a pretty common carrier, so they'll probably sell. Heck, I'd probably take a set. Let's see: Swift, J.B. Hunt, USA Truck, P-I-E, P-I-E/Nationwide, Garrett, ATL, ANR, Matlack, Ringsby United, etc. The possibilities are endless! Actually, I'd like to see a Navajo set.

I'm all in for this!!! real world trucks man! , the stuff you would see ....well ,pretty much anywhere you looked. 2 & 5 hole painted steel wheels, white trucks w/ decals instead of painted stripes, maybe some damage..... lets do it!!!

And why are fleet trucks white? It seems like so many of them used to be red.

white is cheaper to fix i'm up for an excuse to start something new the problem i have with a feet build is that the decals don't come with the kit lets just pick brand or a common feature-conv.,coe,straight truck, single axle you get the idea how about something real simple, like a colour we can all get (hobbie shop)that would give us a fleet theme

White is the cheapest color for bodies while black is the cheapest color for frames. Hence the reason carriers are opting for white trucks. My first truck was among the last batch of trucks Marten Transport bought that had a blue frame that matched the cab. From 2000 on, all black frames. The OEMs started charging extra for the blue frame.
I'd be up for a fleet build. I always wanted to see a CBP go in that direction. That, and/or "type of truck build". In other words, like, all tankers, or flatbeds, or reefers, or whatever. That would be inclusive to semis and straight trucks. Or even just a tractor set up for a certain kind of work. A flatbed tractor would have a headache rack, or a tractor with markings for a tanker outfit.
As to decals, if it's a fleet build, you could use what's in the kit. Many of the kits have decals with company names. Some fleet trucks, for really small fleets, don't have a visible name on the side. Using what's there, and building the truck as a "no frills version", I think you could still do a fleet truck unless it gets really specific.
Jim, the idea of our own fleet sounds cool, too.

Glad you guys like the idea. I think the reissue DM600 has Roadway decals. I guess the good think about a "Fleet Build" is that you can use just about any truck (although the Freightliner SD does seem to be the most popular), with or without a sleeper. You don't have to do a highway tractor, or even a city tractor; many fleets have straight trucks for P&D. And don't forget about construction company fleets (dumps, mixers, heavy-haul tractors, etc.).

And why are fleet trucks white? It seems like so many of them used to be red. white is cheaper. (go to a paint shop & compare it to any other color). red is the most expensive. you could get the frame done any color upon ordering the truck but, you'll pay extra. it's also easier to sell the truck because it's not a specific company color & the buyer could just add their name. I have recon'd many old fleet trucks for resale & it's just a matter of shooting the frame/wheels & removing decals & it's ready for the new owners. as for the forums fleet.....it could work. maybe have decals made up that say "truckstop trucking" or something like that....... we have a few on here that make decals, maybe they could set us up..??

I kind of figured it was something like that: cheeper & easier resale.

Id love to build a Fleet Type Rig. Here in Canada we have CN railroad trucks. They are white with red decaling. Im wondering if this would qualify?

I LIKE THE IDEA. A SIMPLE BUILD THATS NOT OVER THE TOP. THIS WILL GIVE ME A CHANCE TO USE THE OVERNITE DECALS I HAVE. JUST HAVE TO FIND PIX OF THE VARIUOS TRACTORS THEY USED, AND C IF THEY'RE N KIT FORM. THE TRUCKSTOP FLEET SOUNDS GOOD ALSO.

I would think that CN Railroad would qualify. It's a fleet afterall.
