I am so mad at myself, today I f---ed up. after 32 years of driving and over 20 years incident free I blew it.I was in line to get loaded at the cement plant and at the saftey rack when my dispatch was changed and i had to back out around to drop my trailer and pick up a house trailer and I had a major brain fart and side swiped a concrete light pole. dented my right side fuel tank tore the side steps of the tank and the front strap on the tank. lucky the tank did not rip open no leaks but damnit how did I let that happen, Ill tell you. while backing up I was on the nextel talking to my terminal manager and wham. I had to go for a drug test and breathalizer test and now I'm suspended for three days.I feel like crap, and no offense to rookie drivers but today I was one. the moral of this story is pay attention while backing or driving forward it is very important to be focused on what you are doing. sorry for ranting but this happened at 730 this morning and I have not stopped beating myself up yet. james champion o miles incedent free

All to common. The company I work for just banned use of any communication devices while operating any equipment, vehicles. If caught, 1st offense is 3 days off unpaid. 2nd offense, you just joined the 10% national average.

sorry to hear about your misfortune. But congratulations on the 20 years incident free. Next time the dispatcher calls on the nextel stop driving before you answer it.

Suspended after an accident like that! Thats tough.... I would never do that to the guys who work for me. If they dont do on purpose its just an accident and those will always happen! feel sorry for you, but everybody does something like this every now and then! keep up the good work!!
