At our local hobbyshop today we had a get together for young people sponsored by Revell. It was a "Build it, Take it" promotion based on Revell's new Snap-Tite Camaro Concept kit. We had 5 young children take part in today's promotion which was sponsored across the nation at participating hobbyshops everywhere. It was great to be able to assist these kids in assembling what was, for some, their first ever foray into plastic modeling. While some kids did get a bit frustrated at the parts fit and having to follow directions, fun was had by all and it brought to the forefront once again what the hobby is all about, FUN! It was also very encouraging to see the kits fly off the shelves after the build was completed as these kids were very enthusiastic, as well as a few parents at what could be done with these kits. It was a win-win situation for everyone, including the hobbyshop who sold over 20 kits after the meeting was over. We need more of this type of promotion from the model companies and hopefully in the future more companies will step up to the plate and sponsor get togethers like this. Here are a few pics of today's meeting:

The local hobby town had about 10 kids here and another lhs had 2 session with about 15 kids in each. And yes it is a good thing for the hobby. I wish other manufactures would promote it like revell does. It not only helps the hobby but it also helps the LHS's bottom line which in turn does the same thing for the manufactures.

This is a cool thing. I hope to see more of these events go on.
