Some of you have seen these elsewhere, as they were part of a cbp for another forum. That's why I was only showing them in one place. Then, of course, I didn't make the deadline, so I started showing them. A few setbacks slowed me down.
Anyway, if you've built the freightliner cabover kits, you've probably thought of this project yourself. Take the DD and SD kits and switch cabs on the frames. In other words, single axle with a sleeper and a tandem axle daycab.
Let's start with the single axle. The cab was cut down to 75 scale inches. Also, the headlights are converted to singles.
The engine is the kit's Cummins NH 250 converted to an NTC 290.
I'll be going with an air cleaner stack instead of the kit's air cleaner. Not sure of the colors, yet, but if you look at the boxart for the original issue White freightliner SD kit, with the blue and white truck on the box, that's the paint scheme I'm using for this cab. When finished, 2 cut down ebay glue bomb Wilson Livestock Vans will be behind it. Here's one in progress.
And now for the daycab. I had a mishap when stripping paint, so I had to get a new cab, but it will be a Ryder truck, most likely pulling a reefer for local work. The DD frame was shortened by 27 scale inches. Also, I shortened the tanks and used a spare SD kit battery box.
I'll be using the kit's air cleaner on this one. The engine is the Detroit Diesel 6-71 that I bought from STS. With quite a few bits cut off of AMT 8V-71s, and some scracthbuilding, I came up with this.
I did lower the headlight assemblies on both cabs as AMT cast them too high.
That's it for now. Thanks for looking.
