;D A little progress here. Frame is all painted with gloss black. Jarda THATS HOW! you guys get these frames looking like new! ;D Do you remember my "Detroit Trio" thread? I picked up one of the three engines and assigned it to this Aero Kit Pete. But first I had to modify the air filter. It´s supposed to be attached to the firewall. But all the pics of 377 1:1 show otherwise. The filter sits on the brackets mounted to the engine. No brackets in the kit so I made me a pair out of my favourite material... the beer can. Cheers you guys!: Jarda ;D ;D ;D beercans! i think i found a new use for all my "beer cans!" ;D ;D ;D

Another one of your builds to keep track of. Can you please tell me what do you use to cut the beer cans with?

Another one of your builds to keep track of. Can you please tell me what do you use to cut the beer cans with? I kill the beer can with scissors and cut off the top and bottom. What remains is a coiled sheet. Holding it in my hands I try to carfully straighten it by twisting it the other way round. With scissors I cut the piece just as big (or small) as I need it for this part or the other. Using a marker or needle I draw the outline of the part and cut it out with the help of steel ruler and X-acto knife or such kind of blade. Usually I don´t get a fine even edge, so I carefully clean it with a smooth file. If I need a hole, it´s a drill bit. If I need a slot, it´s two holes and a blade. Then a file or a sand paper. Jarda

Hi you all, it´s been a while again. My progress is slow. But I have some pics, finally. As most of you probably know, the dashboard in Italeri Peterbilts has not been correct untill the Heavy Hauler 378 (379 on the box) came with the fixed decal. I copied this decal on b&w copier (no need for colors in this case), planning to use it as the backdrop layer. I sanded off the raised details on the dash and drilled out the holes for instruments in their proper positions. At least, I thought so. Then I glued a transparent foil to the back of the dash. But when I inserted the decal copy to the back side of the newly drilled dash I found that it didn´t match too well. So I cut every instrument out of the copy and glued it one by one, so that they would fit okay. The result is something like this: Doesn´t look as good as I thought, I wasn´t able to paint nicer instrument rims. I changed the shape of the fifth wheel because I don´t like the Italeri shape too much. I also want to mount the fifth wheel on pivots so that it can swing like the real one does. But with this changed shape the ffith wheel drops front instead of rearwards. So I had to add a little weight to the back, made of lead wire. The new shape looks like this: I also changed the fifth wheel board a little. The coil wire is 3D now: A added some details inside the hood. The putty layer will help with weathering, I hope. I have the inside door panels ready. I only don´t know if the grab handles were ever used on the inside of Peterbilt doors. Maybe I´ll cut them off. The last bit is just a trial of a material that cought my attention. From time to time I have to use these Flactor sticking plasters. The sticky side is covered by a foil with a diamond pattern. The pattern is maybe too fine for 1-25, 1-24 scale but I tried it anyway. Looks fine to me and I am happy that the Tamyia spray primer did not eat it up. So, I made this diamond trim inside the sleeper ceiling. Hope it doesn´t fall off once painted and washed. And that´s it for now. Comments wellcome. Jarda

Wow, Jarda, that's looking great! The wood grain on those doors is amazing. I like your dash, and the fifth wheel looks very nice. I'm with you, the Italeri fifth wheels just don't look right. Maybe it's the shape, or they're too low, or they're a European style. I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just to used to AMT fifth wheels!

Jarda so two questions first where do you find that stuff at around here in ohio or even look for that? second how is that stuff doing now that it had some time to dry?
