Have you ever thought about live steam? Could be interesting! I've been talking to a few Live Steamers who are trying to get me into the process. Couple of them told me on this model, I would have to double the size of it to get the right preasure for all the working cylinders. Maybe in the future.

Bill, This is great work. But I would stay with the plastic !@ Boilers can blow up!!!! And twice as big. I think your wife might draw the line there!?

Ggator I think she already has with this build I'm doing now. It was like " "Now just where the heck are you going to put it when it's done?" I think she is eyeing the shed beside the house and trying to figure out how to move me out there.

;D ;D ;D I was wondering the same thing. Where are you going to display it? Find yourself a corner in the garden and plant some 1/25 bonsai trees around. But I don´t know what you´re gonna do with rain. Wow, that will be a huge thing when it´s done. And twice as big? That sure calls for a garden railroad so you can move the thing around. But that´s a different chapter.

Here are some shots of the tower legs which will be added to the next mudule of the build. The four basic parts which were cut from Evergreen and the I beam which runs up the out side leading edge. The finished tower base section painted and riveted. Here again you can see the distortion of the riveting due to the lighting on the new paint. Thats about it until the next installment. Any comments welcome.

Here are a few more update pictures of the LidgerWood after I added more to it. The tower is just sitting on it to give you an idea of how it is coming together during the build. It will actually set about four feet in front of the main winches as there is going to be a secondary winching unit below the tower and four small winches within the tower at the level of the top as you see it now. I have added the right side raiser and will add the other raiser at a later time. Normally in operation the raiser would be set on top of old cut and ricked railroad ties to bring it to the right heigth for operation, but for now that will come later. The hookers side of the winch on these shots were better than previous shots and shows the controls in conjunction with the winching unit and also the right railing which I also added. An angled shot forward showing the tower. Shot of the right raiser unit. The riveting detail still has to be completed on the riser. I built this side for the purpose of getting the left side in direct alignment with it. Side view of the tower and the winching units. On the deck where the black paint ends is about where the rear tower leg will be mounted to the deck. Side view of the main deck, showing the raisers, winches and tower. The model is coming along very smoothly with no drastic hitches yet, but you never can tell when doing a project this large and with so much detail. Like always any comments and questions welcome.

This is a "Riveting" experience.

This is a "Riveting" experience. Mike It truely is Mike. I'm glad I'm making them and not buying them, otherwise the rivets would cost more than the Build.

Bill, I am amazed at the level of detail you are putting into this thing! Totally awesome!!! Gator I have to make it accurate as I can because a lot of the people who look at my models when I take a notion to have them at a show on display are Hard nose, Scrutinizing loggers who check for every little detail on models like this. Also an undetailed area on something this large is noticeable at first sight. Just something I have learned over the years I've been scratch Building.
