Well I thought I would drop a line here and say that this thing IS moving. I did get to work on it for a few minutes this morning but not enough to post any pictures of. I mostly done some laying out some pieces in preparation for the undercarriage for my crane. Really nothing to show as of yet but I get past this week and weekend I should have the time to put on it and produce something. I walk by it everyday and it just pulls at me. I guess you guys know what I mean. Anyways I will post as soon as I can. Kerry

Hello everyone, I want to thank you all for your comments and your help on this. I will admit that the tracks for me was a real challenge. I would put some together and it just wouldn't work right so I take it apart and try again. I'm really sorry for the delay on this thing but I do have an update with some pics. After I finally finished with the tracks I began work on the mid section. I almost ready to connect the three parts as one and hopefully today I can get that done. But the mid section was started in this photo and it went reallt good. Next the top and struts were roughed in and other related parts This one is of the roughed in version of the body and I need to make the final touches to it, like sanding and cleaning up the edges and so forth. I also need to install the hydraulic cylinders that lift the unit up to spread the tracks. I need some 3/8 tubing for which I am ordering today. And this is something of what it is going to look like with the tracks installed. So this is my update and I do hope you guys can give me your input and thanks so much for being so very patient with my build.

Kerry, Hope you had a good safe holiday. This crane is progressing nicely. I think you did a real nice job on the tracks ! did you make them individually? When I did mine for my excavator I did, it was tedious and time consuming. But a real sense of accomplishment at the end! Keep working on it. It will be well worth the self satisfaction!

Hello Gator, I did have a great holiday thanks. All my kids are grown and gone so now it's just time off from work and model time..... I do hope your holidays were great. But yes I did make every one of those little critters. But I think I now know as you said, the satisfaction of such a thing. I was so happy to finish them. I know that I still need to close a few gaps in them but hey, the hard part is done....Thanks Gator

Glad you had a good Christmas! Was wondering about this project.... It's looking fantastic! The base and tracks are coming out very well. Have it done for the Freeport Show next year?? Your pencil sharpener has the same look as I did seeing the progress. Paul

Kerry
That is amazing work on the crawler. Loving your detailing work !!!!!!!!! Lots of repetition that must be very laborious but stunning when completed.
Will be looking in from time to time for hints and tips.

Hey thanks everyone, ohhhhhhh secret project X huh? How mysterious....looking forward to that for sure. Should be allot of fun Paul. Nige, yes it was very laborious but it did turn out as I wanted. I ordered the material I needed to finish this part up but it will not be in till next week. You can bet the feedback won't be very nice. Ordered on the 26th and just now shipped today. NOT good. Werner how are you? Thanks for dropping by and thanks for your comments. It is coming along and I hope to have more this weekend. I want to also try my hand at putting a welding bead on this. Don't exactly know how that's done but I have a couple of ideas. You all have a safe and happy New Year.

Kerry, For replicating a welded bead I use the old style Testors tube glue with the thin pointy applicator nozzles. Just run a thin bead where you want the weld. let it dry and there you are. Or you could use a very fine strip of evergreen plastic , lay the strip down where you want the bead and them brush on your solvent, it should melt down to look like a welded bead. Hope these ideas work for you. I have tried both and achieved decent results!
