Although I had to sell off a lot of my kits to pay some bills, I'm still in the game, and with all the encouragement I've gotten on the forum, I hit the bench last night to continue a project I started in the Spring. I found the remains of a K123 I built 20 yrs ago, and after recieving some new k123 kits in the mail, an idea hit me. I needed the frame from a fresh kit for another project, but the cab plus a few items were used to start this one. forgive the pix. I'll get better ones in the next few days. There wasn't much more than this left of my original build. So I went in this direction. A 130" wheelbase, and shortened tanks. AITM 2 hole Budds with kit inner wheels converted over as well. The kit's NTA 370 downrated to an NH 250 Some testors Competition Orange, DupliColor Gloss White, and Krylon Smoke Gray make for the Allied Van Lines 1960s/70s colors. This is very close to finished, I just have to touch up the decals, which fooled me with their new appearance. To all those who encouraged me to keep going while I go through a difficult time, Thank you. While much of the work was done in June while I was home repairing the house, I did tinker with it a little last night. This is the furthest I've gone in such a short time on a build in years. Thanks for looking.

As much as I've been home, my build time keeps getting interrupted, so I haven't gotten much done. I've at least got the cab most of the way finished.

Ray,
This is gonna be one nice KW/SD! I am kinda partial to the shorties, as they can really look nice on the road. Love it so far, gonna be watching this progress.

With the Astro done, this truck is next. It's fairly far along, so it's time to finish it.

I've been able to get this little guy closer to being done. Just a few more things along with mounting the cab, and it will be ready. Engine is in and wheels are mounted. Since I converted the engine to an NH 250, I went with a smaller air cleaner from a W925 and smaller intake tubing. It seemed more appropriate for a naturally aspirated engine. I also made a new air cleaner stack from K and S brass tubing and a cap from the parts box. A scratchbuilt driver's step was installed just ahead of the air cleaner. The exhaust pipe was made from bits out of my parts box. The stack itself is the kit muffler shaved smooth with a brass heat shield from Czech Truck Modell wrapped around it. A K and S aluminum tube tops it off. I did shorten the 5th wheel slider plate a little also. Here is a quick mockup. The cab is just resting on the frame in this pic. As you can see it's almost done.
