Heres one I was working on awhile ago and put it on the back burner. Well with the new year here I decided for a resolution to finish some of my old starts. I packed this one in a box and forgot about it. Well while it was hybernating some of the parts came up missing. Still cannot find the front bumper. I was missing the air cleaner, luberfiner, exhaust stacks and a few minor parts. The hood was scratched up on one side so I had to give it the purple bath. The chrome to this particular truck was trash so I was able to use most of the chrome from left over kits. I didn't have the grille on the good tree so I had to strip the old chrome and paint it aluminum. The wheels were dechromed and painted white along with the fuel tanks (not chromed in the first place). Here is what I found in the box when I opened it.
The picture was taken after I gave the hood the bath in the purple solvent.
Here is some of the work I did up until now. Got the hood repainted. Same bottle of paint used to paint the rest of the cab but the color dried darker. Gives it a look like it was in a wreck and being rebuilt. (you know how body shops can't match the paints exact) The cab faded a little bit as you may be able to tell in the pictures. The air cleaner and luberfiner were found and painted with the hood and also dried a shade darker.
The dual exhaust was eleminated and made into a single. I could find both parts for the right and only half for the left stack so made it a single. The above pictures show it (the stack) mounted but I didn't like how far it stuck out from the cab. So I redesigned the bracket and pipe to move it closer to the cab.
New bracket:
Old Bracket:
I also mounted the hand rail to the cab instead of the stack. Got the aluminum on the grille and mounted to the hood and the hood mounted to the chassis. This is as far as I am at the moment on this rig.
