Hello Martin:
They are large...I'm not sure about being the largest though. Do you drive all over Europe?

Martin: The company you work for appears to be capable of hauling anything. That is really cool. You must see some great places driving.

Hello Jeff!
No, we haul not everything. No liquides, no hazmat. I don't drive the truck-transporters, just all the other stuff. Great places. Hmm..... When I speak with the people and telling them that I drive to Marseille or other places with a lot of tourists, they say: "Hey, you have to visit this attraction, this restaurant , this fewing point....." "Hello?! Im a truck driver, not a tourist! All we see are highways, habors, industrial estates, expensive rest areas with dirty and smeared restrooms, bad meals and after 15 hours shift I have no interest, to watch the landscape arround! I wanna sleep!" If you leave the highways in France and go some miles into the country, you feel like shot back to the 18th century! No, thats not funny!

Hi Martin: lol...I'm not speaking of tourist attractions. Sometimes we go to jobs in huge open pit mines and other interesting sites

Hi Jeff!
Oh, sorry! I misunderstood!
Well, habors like Antwerpen, Rotterdam or Hamburg are quite interinsting, because they are very large. But in the core, they are big industrial estates, thats all. The problem is, there are no parking areas for trucks, stay overnight mostly is forbidden and rest areas are not existant!

Hello Martin: That is something I do not have a concern for. Our company pays for a hotel and food if we need to spend the night somewhere.I do like being outdoors,I enjoy the scenery here in Arizona.

Hi Jeff! Yea, the scenery in AZ is something different from middle Europe But I tell you: I don't like deserts. I traveled arround all the state parks in Utha, Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado. But it's too hot for me and I like a big oak forest more. May be, it's nice there in winter time, but I never will go back there during summer time! I guess, You're working for a generous company! We only get 12 Euro's for a night outside. Thats 16 Bucks. But thats also different from country to country and from company to company. The frensh gets arround 54 Euro's! But the payment is good in our company. Martin

Hello Martin:
You are correct about the heat here, but that is all I know. I do vacation in the mountains during the summer. I prefer it here because work is not affected by the weather. We do add chemicals and ice to our loads during hot times to keep the concrete useable.
Good to hear that your company pays well. Too bad about your allowance for lodging. Ours is very good. They reserve the rooms and we just save our receipts for food, they repay...no question asked.

Well, Jeff, here we mix anti freez solvent into the concrete I live at the Westerwald (Westforest) and there is a bad joke about this area: "Last year, in the westforest, a horse freeze to death whilst hay harvest." We have strong winters here, but the summers are hot, too. Martin

Hi Martin:
That does sound like you have extreme winters. I imagine Westerwald is a beautiful place.

Hi Jeff! No, it's not as extreme as in Canada This year, we only had one week with snow. But I remember winters with snow from mid November until May! The wind is very cold here. Here is a link to the village, I live: schutzbach.de/ (population 300) Ok, sure it is in german, but You can see, where it is located (northern top of the state of Rheinland-Pfalz / Rhineland-Palatinatia). More pics: heimatverein-schutzbach.de/Schutzbach comes from the middleage Schatzbach, what means Treasurebrook or Treasurecreek, because they found copper and ore there. Ore mines where a important economy here until the 1960s. Martin

Hi Martin
That is a beautiful place. Also much history there. Much more pleasing to the eyes than the desert where I live.
