HI Gang, Well here I go starting on another project (like I don't have enough now). This is the Ford Tilt Cab from The Tournament of Thrills set from early 70's. I had it packed away in my shed and decided to build it. The decals were shot so it will not be built as the Tournament set. The trailer included was the single axle auto transport trailer which I will build later down the line. Here is a picture of all the cab parts laid out on my bed to show what I will be working with. I removed the engine parts from the trees and cleaned them up getting ready for assembly. Here I got the Engine block and transmission halves assembled with a few other parts attached. I'm not going for no show quality or contest win vehicle here its just going to be built for the shelf.

Should be nice. Are you going to strip the chrome off of the spokes?

As we speak they are soaking in the purple tub. Also need to find some rears with studs and lug nuts. The ones AMT did supply don't have that detail on them.

That looks like a nice kit. I'll be following along if it is ok. I'm interested to see how this builds up. You are off to a good start.

Hi Todd!
The engine is very interesting! How many cubic inches and hp offers it?

With Step 1. ENGINE complete. Its time to move onto step 2. WHEELS Here is the front set of spokes still chromed. After the purple bath. I think chrome spokes just don't look right. The rears were also chromed and got the bath also. As you can tell they need a little attention for clean up. Also I don't like that AMT did not give any detail to lug nuts or studs to the rear hubs. This next picture shows the rear assembly with the chrome outer rings still with some tree material still attached. The four rear tires with the centers still attached. All 6 tires with the centers removed. (2 front - 4 rear) Picture of all parts needed to complete step 2.

Hi Todd! The engine is very interesting! How many cubic inches and hp offers it? Martin This specific engine classified as the Super Duty came in 3 sizes all issuing approx. 253 horsepower. 1. 6.6L (401 cubic inches or 6.57 l) 2. 6.8L (477 cubic inches or 7.8 l) 3. 7.2L (534 cubic inches or 8.75 l) I guess this model represents #3 listed above.

Todd, I motor looks good. like you said the wheels leave a lot to be desired. But when you consider just how old that AMT kits really is!! It was better than nothing. I think that stripping the chrome and painting them is the way to go.
be Well Gator
