Hi guys! For the next year, I'm thinking about building a Belt Trailer / Live Bottom Trailer like those one's: trailking.com/trailers/?trailer_id=59www.henderson-mfg.com/blackbelt.htmlThose trailers are not common in Germany / Europe. A netherlands company using similar trailers for carrying potatos, but their trailers looking different and are "homemade": www.buttergroup.eu/ I don't know an european manufacturer, who offers such trailers like those from Trail King or Henderson. Is there someone here on the forum, who had experiences with such trailers? There are no detailed informations of the construction on the homepages of serval manufacturers. My biggest problems: What kind of material I can use for the belt? How to held the belt under tension? How to drive the belt (with a cain or without)? Thanks for Your help! Martin

Martin, The trailers that you are referring to are often called live floor trailers. The floor is made up of hinged sections. or of a heavy duty type belt .Similar to the heavy conveyor belts used in rock quarries only much wider. One of the things they haul here in the states is wood chips and bark for land scaping. Hope this little bit of info helps.

Hi Marc!
Thanks for the infos! Those trailers are a very interesting construction. My biggest problem ist to make the belt itself and the way, to tension it. May be, I can use the inner rubber hose of a bicycle wheel, cut it and glue / saw it together at its ends. But I have no idea, how the construction looks inside. Will see.....
