Hello Guy's! I'm interested in building a Folding Gooseneck Trailer like this one: kalynsiebert.com/products.aspx/Folding-Gooseneck-Drop-Deck/MFN/45Such trailers are unknowen in Germany / Europe and I don't understand, how to lift up / take down the neck?! There is no hydraulic system on the trailer. The discription say's somethig about a winch on the truck. So I think, the neck will be lift by a hook and a steel rope? Sorry, I've never seen such a trailer in action. And whats about the kingpin, when the neck is lying on the ground? Will it slide up? Because it's not possible, to take it on the ground - it will be demaged! Is there someone, who had have some experiences with such a trailer or can answer me? Martin

Thank You for the video link! Realy interesting! But I think, if one do that four or five times a day, it will kill the truck frame in a short time Martin

The winch raises the folding gooseneck to a height that the truck is able to back into the kingpin. It's not winching a loaded trailer...just raising the gooseneck.

Well, I found some of those trailers with a hydraulic system. I think, that would be easier to built. The locking of the neck itself, I think, will work by air locks. That's what I found out on serval discriptions of the manufacturer.
Thank's for Your help!

This video shows how to break down a mechanical gooseneck. It's by XL trailers. When I pulled goosenecks, I pulled XL and Talbert trailers. All the ones I pulled were mechanical. We only had one hygraulic. The process was fairly quick, it just required jumping in and out of the truck a few times. Note the ramps at the end of the tractor frame. They are designed for the rollers on the trailer's nose. Hopefully this will help you. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TqYy_zz5go
