During the month of April, I concentrated on building the ripper. First order of business was fabricating the carriage assembly: Here’s all the assembled parts for the ripper: A quick mock-up: Mounting brackets for ripper cylinders: With primer applied: With these parts completed, the hydraulic cylinders are next.

Dennis, The parts for the ripper look to be spot on. Great job!

Thank you Jim and Gator. Purchasing a parts manual for a D11 has proven itself to be a valuable reference tool.

Wow, at last there is somebody who actually thinks outside the square and is willing to give it a go.
Like how you saw the possibilities with the Bruder toy, along with a bit of for-thought and the next thing this lot appears.
Well done, it makes a refreshing change from the boring straight out of the box builds and NOT once has the word scratchbuilt been used.

I’ve been thinking about how I can detail the operator station: There is a bit of information on the web about the cab, but the best way is to go get a D11 and crawl over it with the camera and a tape measure. Here's a bit I gleaned from the web, maybe it might help you. www.witraktor.lt/pdf/E1-5242-2-D11R.pdf

Not saying this way will work for you at all, but you might get some ideas you could use from this lot. Had to make the inside walls to be able to fit in the windows, then had to cut a piece out down the centre of the seat and floor, just to make it all fit up into the cab. Just some ideas for you to think about.

Thank you Radish for all the information! The brochure has an interior that might not be too difficult to replicate. I love the detailing you did on the excavator...unbelievable work on the hydraulic lines! I like how you built the joysticks, I just might follow what you did. Once again, thank you!

Dennis, Again you are raising the bar. And with the info and photos from Radish. I think you will be able to really finish this one out in style.

Just a query, ------------------ what are you going to do with the loose tracks ? I'll be installing an idler roller which should take up most of the slack. idler.pdf (166.9 KB)
