Hello all. I just found this place via a link posted on another board, checked it out and liked what I saw. I haven't built a big truck model since I was a teen (I'm 42... ),and never actually finished one then...I actually haven't built ANYthing for the last few years, but have been buying a few kits and supplies, setting up a workspace and such,so here we are,LOL!
The first Class B or bigger trucks I drove were "off road" while serving in the Army (Airborne Infantry,1991-1995),but I hadn't done more than a few miles at a time until I was ETS'd (discharged, time served),so I went to trucking school shortly after and drove long haul from 1995-2008 (though during the last 2 years,my hauling was progressively shorter and shorter trips/closer to home, including some local driving of coal/dump buckets, seeder trucks, and concrete trucks). My handle actually was "Singlespeed" during the years that I drove, though I don't drive anymore, from about 12-08 I was unable to continue working due to serious spinal injuries where a co-driver had wrecked me (as I slept in the bunk) back in 2001,and I've been legally disabled since 2011 for all that,so I'm just a glorified house dad now,LOL! I don't really miss being gone, missed too much of the kid's lives, but I DO miss the physical aspect of driving,my wife says they had to "drag me kicking and screaming" out of the cab,LOL (I drove for 7 years after having broken my neck in 2 places-among other injuries from that 2001 crash-LOL,so I must have really loved it ).
Anyways, while I had bought up a few car kits, lately I've been buying road tractor kits (and 1 trailer so far),and while a bit nervous that I'll be excessively rusty,LOL,I'm anxious to get back to building, and build some trucks. Nice to meet all of you
