Hi all this is going to be my first major scrach building project. This is a photo of the trailer that I want to model. Its a LPG carrier for Hooker with a contract with Rockgas. i108.photobucket.com/albums/n1/rotoruafireguy/060810_073627.jpg[/IMG]And this is a photo of the older Prime mover that I might model later. They replaced it with a actros early in 2006 as this unit needed a major overhaul and the km's on it was getting high. I was thinks of starting with a white PVC drain pipe and a petrol carrier trailer. Than Ill use the body of the trailer for a split petrol unit that also uses a longer than normal rear section. Thats for any help given. Andrew

We had the piping system on the wall to allow any upgrade at any point. Also the trailer in the photo is a older trailer used in winter as they swap the trailers at the depot where there is no bulk LPG there. That is due to the demand in the area.
B.T.W. Has anyone Right Hand Drived a Revell Actros??

Is that tanker round or eliptical?

Round-I was thinking about PVC tube and balsa caps for the end

You could go that route or you could pick up an AMT tanker and cut it down to the length you need.

I was thinking about using a italeri petrol tanker as a parts box for the trailer as the amt truck kits have problems ending up in Austrailia and New Zealand. The truck kits are all but non excestance.

If that tanker is round and not eliptical I don't see why it wouldn't work. keep us posted on this build, it sounds interesting.

if you go with the pipe idea- you always order ends either round or eliptical from plastruc They makem just make sure you know what ends your goina get first and then match it up to the pipe

I have trought of that but it pushs the price on the project up again. The piping alone is a major cost of this build and was thinking that balsa turned or filled with a gauge will work if I take my time. I will check into it though.

Its had a bit of a break due to a move and a change of jobs. The prime mover has moved on somewhat with the cab coming together with paint and the start of pinstriping
