Hello to all I have visited this forum daily, and have seen some very spectacular craftsmanship. WOW! I had built models from about age 10 but it slowly died out around 25 or so but after seeing some of the builds here I am ready to get back into it again, I wish I would have kept all the supplies that I had acquired over the years. I hope I cen achieve the skill that I have seen here.
Thank You, Gene

Hello, my name is Rick and I am new to the board and in total shock at the talent that runs rampant through this site. You guys are amazing. I am a Police Officer from NJ and I am assigned to E.S.U. we do everything from Tactical Jobs to all sorts of rescue work. Very unique to the North/East. I am going to post a link of a project I want to start. Its our Mack MR 688P heavy rescue. If anyone has any ideas on where I might start with the chassis alone that would be great. I was one of the original designers so I have the actual drawings/specs. www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/otherstates/Hudson%20County/Jersey%20City%20ESU.htm

Now as for your truck, I would just sit down with your drawings, scale them down and start cutting flat sheet styrene, for the most part your truck looks pretty much all flat and square so it should be pretty easy to frame up with square stock and attatch your flat sheet to the frame. That is my 2 cents worth, but there are better builders than me on here so someone else may have a better plan. Jim

welome to our family Rick. That is a great link you posted. I myself would start with 1 of 2 chassis that comes to mind. They are the both from AMT. #1 being the Louisville Ford Short hauler delivery truck kit #31941. And the other being the Ford C series or the stake truck. These trucks are s/d (single drive axle). They would be great for the frame length and the extra plastic that might be need to build the rescue box. This just my pennies worth. Good luck and keep us posted.

Welcome to the board! For some ideas to your build you may look at the Scale Fire House forum. A lot of guys scratch build trucks like this and there are a few tutorials. www.scalefirehouse.comYou might also get the book written by Terry Jessee "Building and Detailing Scale Model Trucks and Emergency Vehicles." It is printed by Kalmback Books. The book has a larger version of what you are trying to build. It also explains where to get a lot of the detail parts.
