Well, can you believe it? It's 3:45 in the morning and I just got home from work a few minutes ago and decided to dig this truck out and see what I might be able to get accomplished on it. The last update I made on this truck's progress was in November of last year. This gives you an idea of how long it's been since I've touched a model. Anyways, I dragged this rig out and have been removing mold lines, sink marks and other kit defects on the various parts in preperation to start gluing subassemblies together. I still have quite a bit of cleaning to do on the parts but at least I'm actually working on something. Too bad it has to be at 4:00 in the blessed AM to make it happen though. I'll post pics of my progress in the next few days when I actually have something worth while to show...stay tuned.

Brian, I work nightshift and model on the nights I don't work and can't sleep. Model on my wide eyed brother.. Truck looks great ,wish I could find one at a decent price. I missed one at a LHS for 15.00 recently and I've had my eye on one ever seen you guys started the CBP Keep it up

I managed to get quite a bit done on my Astro the past couple of days. The frame and chassis are now together and in paint. I have sanded the tires and will stuff them either when I get home from work tonight or tomorrow before I go in. I will also post pics tomorrow when I have more time. I think the truck will look pretty good in the scheme I decided to give it. I'll let y'all be the judge when I post pics though...Stay tuned!

I see I'm not the only one who wanted to finish his CBP Astro. I can't wait to see yours as I love the color you picked.

I've been puttering along with my Astro project this morning before work. I got the wheels and tires assembled as well as the fuel tanks and the engine block halves. I also painted the interior tub and the seats and sleeper curtain. I doubt I'll put the sleeper bunk in this as I think the curtin will most likely go up in there instead, but I might change my mind. I was also thinking of fabricating my own curtains that are tied back on each side to give it a bit more realistic appearance. I also painted the dash and radiator as well as other miscellaneous parts today too. Maybe with any luck I will have the frame and chassis on rolling stock by the end of the weekend. I'm torn about how much chrome to keep on the engine right now. I'm going for an Owner/Operator rig and alot of owners like to bling their truck out, but to me a chromed supercharger just doesn't cut it. I may strip some of the chrome and repaint them in a more accurate, life-like finish. I might dullcoat some as well to give them a different appearance. Any thoughts on this idea? Anyways, here are a couple pics...

I don't have any new pics but thought I'd give a quick update on my progress. The cab has been clearcoated and I am in the process of buffing it and polishing it out now. I also dull coated the seats slightly to give them a more authentic look of vinyl or even leather. I have started alot of detail painting of parts as well including the air brake chambers and brackets, engine accessories and chassis compnents that need to be detailed. I'm in the fine work process of the project now so I will post images after all of that is done rather than take up bandwidth with pics that show a few tiny miniscule parts. Stay tuned!
