I'm kicking around several different ideas for this build. AJY took one of my ideas and did a great job with his Coors Light puller. I actually thought about a Coors Original 2-toned gold truck with the checkerboard designs from a local bottling company, or maybe a Coors Light "Twins" version with the Twins on the sides of the tractor. I also thought about just a used up old workhorse that might be used to haul lumber or junk cars or something of that nature. Then I am thinking of a "Trick My Truck" style rig with bright paint and a monochromatic paint scheme. I'm still undecided right now, but hopefully will be able to make up my mind by this weekend. Stay tuned.....

Wow. You do have quite a few ideas. I'm sure there's one that calls out to you more so than the others. I'm having a dillema myself since I saw the Branch Motor Express Astros. Although I think I will stick with my original plan.

After seeing AJY's Astro, I've decided to eliminate the Coors Light rig. I don't want to steal his thunder with his truck as it's coming along nicely and looks fantastic. So, I'm sorta back to the drawing board again in terms of schemes and decals to use. Maybe a Budweiser truck, but that would most likely be just a plain red rig and I'm not sure I want to go with a plain, simple single color scheme. We'll have to see what develops...

Believe it or not, my Astro is FINALLY undergoing assembly. I had originally wanted to hold off until the Bison was done but wioth so mnay fit problems on that I shelved it so i could work on this truck. So far the cab is in paint and I have finally decided on a color scheme and combo. It's going to be an owner operator configured rig when it's done with lots of color and chrome. If the cab is any indication, this rig is going to be one sweet ride when it's done.

Bri,
Looking good! Hey, Upstate New York weather question: now that it's getting cold & the snow is starting to fly (well, here in Syracuse anyway) where do you paint? My garage is too cold now, and Tamaya spray paint really stinks up the basement.

I actually paint in the stairwell to the basement during the colder months and wet days. The stairwell is heated and it's wide enough for me to put a small shelf on the wall to place the body or whatever model part on to paint. It's primitive, but it works. A quick update on the progress though...I got the frame glued together this morning as well as the front suspension and the rearend halves are glued together as well. I will paint the whole frame and suspension as one piece. I'm trying to find some decent chrome wheels for this kit though and am not having much luck so far. I want to dress it up just a bit and am hoping I run across something in my parts boxes soon. Otherwise I'll have to go with the painted 5 spoke heavy duty wheels that came in the kit. Not exactly my first choice for this build, but we'll see what happens. Paint will most likely go on the frame and suspension tomorrow then it's on to the engine and transmission assembly. This kit is moving along nicely and I only hope things keep going so smoothly. I'm really happy so far with this project. I may end up picking up some more of these just because they are so fun to build.

Bri, Looking good! Hey, Upstate New York weather question: now that it's getting cold & the snow is starting to fly (well, here in Syracuse anyway) where do you paint? My garage is too cold now, and Tamaya spray paint really stinks up the basement. Hey I know this is a little off subject. Hey jimb we have that same cold weather problem here in Iowa and my wife WILL NOT let me paint in the basement but I fixed it to still paint in the unheated garage. Went to K-Mart and found a radiant heater, it will pull out on a base to about 4 ft tall and rotate. I put it in the garage and about 1/2 an hour to 3/4 of an hour b4 I am ready to paint I turn it on and let it do its thing. My paint bench is a piece of 1/2 inch plywood over to saw horses so I just put it in a cornor and the heater works real good. I paint my stuff and than move it to the laundry room in the basement to dry. The laundry room because it has a window that I can open a little bit to vent any smell. NOW back to business; NYO3SS I love that paint job on your truck, going to have to try that. Last time I tried a 2 stage paint job I used Testors for both coats and it really really didnt come out real well. I am watching all of the builds as I didnt get in on them for 2 reasons, (1) no digital camera (2) have a Bison Conventional and General Conventional on the bench and am having all kinds of problems with them. Longhaul a.k.a. Jeff

Jeff,
That's a good idea. Since I don't keep my 1:1 cars in the garage, a small heater might just do the trick.
