If you havent read this thread : pete389.proboards54.com/index.cgi?board=id&action=display&thread=1802ill just give you the short story- i have been modeling for over 20 years now, having built just about any and everything. But i have never built a truck.A friend sent me looking here for information, and im glad he did, because i am definately bit by the rig bug and have one of my own well on its way to completion. So for better or worse, heres my first effort, just right out of the box...i was going to just aim for a clean build, to see how i like doing them, and i can say that i will be building more. Comments, and constructive crit is always welcome! and thanks for looking. I still have NO idea what colors im going to paint it up.. but i was leaning toward a metallic orange and white combination, or an aqua and pearl white.. i want something clean and classy looking.

Thanks for the comments guys, i hope that they can all be this enjoyable.... i have made more progress- completing the interior. I shot it an overall krylon "mimosa" and then drybrushed some rust/leather (i forgot which) onto the seats and rubbed it in.... trying to give it a more worn look.. the bed got a light gray overcoat, and a drybrush with white. The dash was picked out with various acrylics and enamels and then overall drybrushed silver to pick up detail. The seatbelts are just painters tape painted black and then cut to length and stuck on... Enough of the talking, here are the pics: I wish i had covered the backs of the seats with styrene sheet stock but they cant be seen when in the cab. I also did the tires- and a lil trick i figured out, and im sure you all already know- is to heat them with a hair dryer and do a quick cold water dunk to get them to seat correctly on the outter rims... i wish i had done that with the inner rims as well but at least the outsides look correct.

More progress pics- this time i got paint on the cab... I have to do some touch up on the white stripes and i was thinking of outlining them with either black or gold decal stripes... not sure which yet. I used duplicolor white, under the color place orance i picked up at walmart for under a buck, and then hit the orange with testors pearlcoat.... just to make it sparkle a bit. When done i am adding chrome BMF to the hood's center line design, and some personal touch decals (local plate, and registration, etc)

great looking truck, i too like you have been building cars, trucks, motorcycles you name it but have never built a big rig. My buddy is a moderator on this board (cfnutcase) and he builds big rigs like crazy and we along with some other guys and gals around town have started a model club, anyway i have been off the board for a long time getting back into modeling after a short break due to family and work. I have just recently picked back up on my KW T600 build that CF has been riding me about for about a year. anyway your doing a smash up job on your first truck.

Great looking rig for the first try, wish I could show ya mine but ofcourse that's 30 yrs ago and it's history now, something that I do find funny is how truck models have the Cat engine all picked out with detail, I don't know about the States but here in Oz they just paint everything yellow wiring and all on the real thing. Waiting to see the final rig philciborowski.
