"The Snowman", aka Jerry Reed died early Monday morning of complications from Emphysema. Reed, probably best known for his character "The Snowman" in "Smokey & The Bandit" also enjoyed a very successful music career in Country Music. "East Bound & Down" was arguably one of Reed's biggest hits as well as songs such as "When You're Hot, You're Hot." I loved both Reed's acting and music. I will sure miss him, but will always smile when I see him acting and hear his great country music. R.I.P. Jerry.

I do not know if Mr. Reed was religous or not, but if he was he is now "North Bound and Down". My condolences to his family and friends. I too loved his career. Never, ever, heard a bad word about the man.

Man what a loss. He was great. Now for sure there wouldn't be a remake or a bandit 4. Now "snowman" and "Buford T Justice" (Gleason) can have there chases in heaven. May they both REST IN PEACE! It just wouldn't be the same without them.

I love Jerry's music. I couldn't believe it when I headr he had passed. Many of you may not know he was also in the movie High Ballin'. He played the part of trucker Duke Boykin, and drove a cabover Kenworth K100 flattop that was painted like the BJ and the Bear truck, the only difference being that the bottom of the cab is red, instead of white like BJ's truck. The movie was released around 1978. I wish I could find the song from that movie that he sings, I believe it's called High Rollin.
Jerry will be missed. His songs were often humorous, I just wish my CD wasn't all scratched up. R.I.P. Jerry!!!!

I believe that song in on the "Essential Jerry Reed" collection. I have several of his cd's and will see if I can find it for you when I get the chance.

Thanks Bri. I had that movie taped, but the tape got ruined. I loved that song. If I have the title of the song wrong, the first line goes," Well a million miles of highway...Has rolled underneath these wheels...". Hope that helps.

I miss him too. I have a personally autograph picture of him in my home. It may become a collectors item some day. jim
