If you are using plastic for the fuel tank material than regular model glue should work. If resin or metal than I would use superglue. Just hold the strip in place until the glue has time to set up.

I fudge a little on mine and use Black Vinyl Drafting Tape which is available at any stationary or drafting supply store like Staples or one of those. It is easy to use and stays put once you lay it down. It is available in various sizes from 1/32 inch and larger. I also use it to put under the strap itself to simulate the rubber strip beneath the 1:1 straps on regular rigs. Just make a strap narrower than the tape so it looks like part of the rubber strip sticking out on both sides of the strap.
