How can I make up a set of High Flotation steer wheels ? Like seen on mixers and dump trucks?
They are basically a flat disc wheel with a lot of positive offset to them... but where to start??

I've made some before but don't have them anymore. I sold the truck I made them for on Ebay as a junkyard special. What I did is take the front wheel (depending on if you want Disk or spoke) and used the wheel ring from a rear spoke setup. ( GMC Astro, Ford C-900 etc ) and carved out the inner edge of the ring and sanded down where the ring would go on the front wheel to make the wider ring fit properly. It is a little work but can be done to make a nice looking wide floatation wheel. Remember AMT has two different sized wheels so you would have to match up a ring and wheel for size comparison. ( GMC ring fits the 10x20 tires so the wheel from any Ford truck kit, KW's, Peterbilt etc match ) ( Freightliner, Autocar, Road Boss, Diamond Reo all are bigger and will accept the Uniroyal 11x22 tires or the Italeri wheels ). Below the pictures will give an idea of how to work the wheel parts to create the rims you are looking for. I have not done any work to make these in the pictures the ring is just sitting on the wheel to give the looks.

AMT's Autocar dump truck kits featured some very nice spoke-type wide floatation wheels AND tires. I could try'n pour you some resin copies...

That's some good info, crackerboxkid, didn't know that. I need the 10 hole disc type, and I've acquired a pair from a Can Do wrecker.
