It's finally finished. Here is the trailer for my Astro. Starting with the amt Double Header kit, I cut one trailer basically in 1/2 and added it ti the rear of another. All but one part, the center spring hanger, came from the kit. That part can be scratchbuilt but I used one from the parts box. I figured with as much as I did to the tractor, the trailer should also be detailed. My research showed that Trailmobile's 40 footers, whether they had a sliding suspension or not, had a big crossmember just ahead of the suspension, so I made one by modifying a piece of frame rail from an old IMC box trailer. Now, what's a 1970's van trailer without that characteristic soot stain at the upper right. From the rear. I added a few goodies like placard holders, dock bumpers, and used the kit's pintle hook to set it up as a trailer used on a turnpike doubles set(twin 40 footers). A bill of lading box on the nose, some minor weathering to simulate road grime, air lines to the brakes, and wheels from a Trailmobile moving van kit round out the modifications I made to the trailer. Thanks for looking.
