OK, I'm building an AMT Dozer to put on an AMT Lowboy trailer. I have no idea if, in real life, a dozer this size could be loaded from the rear but it's the only drop deck trailer I know of without scratch building or paying a fortune requiring a bank loan. Anyway, I could use a bit of help as to how to shape the brackets so the ramps can fold up and back on the angled rear deck sides of the trailer. A general drawing would a great help. I've looked at some pictures but just can't seem to figure out the correct shape to allow for a hinge and folding of the ramps.

Hey Spider, The AMT Lowboy was based on a design that did not use any type of tilting ramp. The process for loading this trailer is pretty simple. The driver parks the trailer, sets the breaks and the D8 in this case would push up a dirt ramp to the rear of the trailer and climb on board. Hope this helps. John

You don't really need a dirt ramp the cleats on the dozer tracks will climb up on the dovetail. As far the ramp design the one we have is double hinged. It's got one ear on both the trailer and the ramp with two plate pieces on either side. Bolts or pins on both sides. You will have 4 plate pieces and 4 pins per ramp. Hope this helps.

Bootleg is right you dont necessarily need a dirt ramp but it puts less wear and tear as well as stress on the trailer. John

That's cool. Now I don't need to make any modifications. I really appreciate the help.

Thanks for the replies. I decided to leave it as it is and use no ramps. I have pictures in the Showroom with the lowboy and dirt pushed up for the ramp. I can now see where this would be an easy way load up.
