I was sitting around waiting for some glue to dry and thinking how to add dirt to my dozer. Tossed around several ideas and may have stumbled onto something. I went out in the yard and regular real dirt seemed too course for scale. Then a thought came to me. I got some charcoal ashes from the grill and they look like dirt and are very fine in texture. I'm going to try using them for the dirt build-up areas and see how things go. Maybe it's good I didn't clean out the grill last time I used it.

Hey ISnt anything better than real dirt to replicate real dirt Just break it up until it gets to scale (powder) Spray your model with some dull coat and kinda sprinkle the dirt into the places you want it then let it dry- Later blow it off some will stay hit it again with the dull coat- You can even take your Dry paint brush and dry brush some of the dirt around to get some shading.

If you noticed my CBP, I used left over charcoal on my build. It looks like real dirt to me. It gives it that dusty road effect and to make it clumpy add water first. I have a spray mister and it makes it very real looking. As my build gets closer to completion I will add more. Currently my build is in the final detailing mode and is very near to being done.
