Saw quite afew on ebay and watched them sell at hobby lobby's usual price..wife went to hb yesterday so I asked her to pick me up one...she did.{gotta love her!} Here's my question; is the huge opening in the rear of the cab correct? I expected it to be a separate sleeper assy and was surprised to see the cab/sleep one unit. Is this right per real world pete?

Bob no this kit is not correct. In the 1:1 trucks they have like a upside down teardrop looking opening into the sleeper. here's what is should look like that piece is from the Italeri 377 Pete. I hope this helps

Thanks cliff, I had a feeling it wasn't right. I looked at the tire/wheels in that kit...I see why it's cheap now. I'll have to mess with it alittle I guess.....

The opening isn't right until you get to the mid 1990's when the Unibilt cabs were introduced. With that , the opening got bigger. Then came the Ultracab, further enlarging the opening. My 1999 379 had an opening about that big. Almost no rear cab wall at all. It was also an Ultracab which meant that the cab roof was raised.

Flatbedkw, correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the new petes have steel or natural metal fender colors now instead of paint? I guess I won't be backdating this kit{not far if I do}, so modern seems to be the easy way.

I think the stainless front fenders are an option, not standard equipment.

The stainless/chrome style fenders are an expensive option. They are also not very popular with many drivers due to the fact it takes alot of effort to keep them clean and looking good. Bugs, road grime and rocks wreak havoc with these fenders and they are very susceptible to pits, nicks and other forms of damage from day-to-day driving.

First of all the sleeper opening in the revell 359 kits( Exept for the newest snap kit and pre 78 models with the 36 inch sleeper with the crawl thru hole)is the correct opening for all 359's then in 87 the 379 was introduced that also had the same opening until 94 then they introduced the unibuilt that had a bigger opening until 98 or so when they introduced the ultra cab which had a taller opening and also the taller cab and for the front fenders the shiny fenders was only availible one the 379X models all others had painted fenders

The Customizer is correct. The opening you want is the Revell AG 359. Also, the polished fenders are from the 379X, which is a special edition. Many drivers wanted the look for their tricks, so they bought the fenders. All you really had to do if you wanted them is buy unpainted/unpolishes fenders, and just have them very highly polished. That's what some drivers did.
