I was just curious.... was the Mack Cruiseliner available with their V8? I was toying with an old Dm800 V8 and gearbox and dropped it into the Cruiseliner chassis. It fits pretty good and the doghouse clears with no problems. Did the Cruiseliner have that option? Paul

The Australian ones did. I could be wrong, but I think it was unusual to find one with a six in it out here, as far as I know they were fairly much all V8's.

Mack also offered Cummins engines on a special order basis along with Detroit diesel, but they would fight you tooth and nail on the Detroit's! We had a local fuel hauler here in southern N.Y. that had 8V-71 318 HP. Detroit's in F models, I also know of an R-700-L with a 12V-71-N about an hour from me! Just plain wrong!!!! As for the Mack V-8 engines, they were also offered in the F model and MH (the cab over that succeeded the Cruseliner). Altho the MH would have had an E-9.
