Ok all you Guru's I need your help with something. I am in the process of finishing up a model (unfortunatley it isn't a truck model so I can't post pics here) it's the AMT Meister Brau pulling tractor. (which in time will be setting on a AMT pappa truck) for the hauler. I applied a few decals this morning. I only applied a couple because they were old and I wanted to wait and see the results when I got home tonight. At first they started out to be ok. When I went to apply them, I slid them off the backing paper onto the model. They started to curl just a little. i fought to keep the edges from rolling up by applying Solvaset. I will have to wait and see the final outcome as to whether or not they'll stay down when I return home tonight. My question being, if they don't come out the way i would like, what is the best way to remove them without messing up the paint? Can I wet the heck out of them and see if they will lift off? Does some one make a decal remover that will take of decals without messing up the paint? I've never had this problem before and I think it's because there old. ;)Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

First, I can't guarantee this will save the paint (to many variables), try tape. The kind used for wrapping gifts.

Put the model on it's side, put on more setting solution and let gravity take over...might have to do it a few time to get the results you want.
Later dan

Thanks guys for the tips. Dan: When I got home tonight the decals were all goofed up for sure. Then I thought about doing what you just suggested. I soaked the decals really good with more Solvaset and waited. After a while the decal lifted right off in one piece. There was very minimal glue resdue left. I'm glad I didn't try and put on the big fender decals. I'm thinking the decals are just too old. Now my problem is either finding another set (which I would probably be in the same situation because of old decals) or finding somebody that could reproduce these decals. Their pretty neat looking decals and go with my paint, so I'd like to go with them still. I guess my next question is: does someone know who would reproduce these for me? I actually only need the 2 fender and the 2 frame decals remade. Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

But you may need to find another set to use as the master, unless what you need is still on the backing paper.

TowGuy: Thanks. I still have the original decals on the backing paper. I only applied one of the decals just because I didn't trust the old decals. Dan: Can you replace or reproduce these for me? If so let me know how to go about it and how much. Thanks!
