I got 6 from my local hobby town, kinda dissapointed in them, really have lots of clean-up to do, lots of flash on them, but what can we expect, they are cheap! Jim

O.K. you got your L-700 cool. What are you gonna do with it??? If your not gonna' build now and want to put on back burner for another project down the road there are a few things you got to do. The rubber tires are not bagged neither is the glass or chrome so get the zip-locs and bag it. The chemicals from the rubber will melt plastic after time. Wash these tires before use.

Yep..there are about 20 of these on my local WalMart shelf. I'll be picking a few up when finances allow, that's for sure. Tons of ideas for this kit...

I got mine today and opened it. The truck instructions are rather vague compaired to the old IMC origonals. My tires were bagged{the truck ones} but the trailer has sink holes{lines} on top of both of the trailer top halves right over "every" lower frame cross rib. Would be a bite to try and putty them over and not mess up the woodgrain{which is sink holed too}. I bought this kit as a spare truck rolling frame and for the flatbed trailer...it surprised me to see that one can build the trailer as a half unit/single axle{man-that would be short}. One thing that kinda cracks me up...if you have the box in front of you, I direct your attention, on the top of the box, to the RH door lower hindge...all half of it. The door pin is missing in the middle - must have broke during shipping or something. Nice otherwise! On my current build I shaved off the door hinges, filled the holes and glued the doors closed...a much cleaner look.

I find this interesting--I have 4 L700's, 2 are molded in gray and 2 are molded in white. The kits are VERY thin, almost transparent. Tires are solid rubber. Unless you have built one before, the instructions can be a bit tricky. Don't get me wrong, despite its flaws, it is a welcome change and offers a good alternative to the Ford short hauler. You'll be able to do all those projects you wanted to do if you had a Ford C-series. I have only done pre-assembly at this point in time but will be building soon.

Are two of them re-releases? i know with the Pahauler the original was moulded in Yellow & White both of which were incredibly close to the colours required for the finished product (so much so that you could almost get away with not painting it) However the re-release is in a grey/white colour and from what i've seen & heard, the quality of the plastic/moulding is far inferior to the original.
It's possible that two of you're L700's may have been a result of a similar scenario.

all 4 kits are re-releases. i bought them at 2 different walmarts, not that walmart has anything to do with production of the kits. I guess they used whatever color plastic they had on hand. As you stated, the payhauler is molded in gray, which seems to be the standard color for the AMT/Ertl re-pops. The Dodge, however, is from Lindberg, and from what I remember, the repop is a lot thinner than the original.

The old Dodge L700 tooling is very old, originally released BEFORE the AMT Peterbilt 359 kit #T500-500 in 1969, so we're talking some old technology and tooling here.
Lindberg just announced that the Dodge L700 will also be released in a flatbed version with a load of crushed cars! The old Testors/IMC BigRig van trailer will be out too. They also appear to be reissuing the Testors 1/20th scale Peterbilt 359 kit and the old Aurora fire truck (originally called "California Fire Truck").

I found em when I was almost done with assembly. I just glued my spindles in place.

It's great to see Lindberg releasing this kit in various forms and also bringing back other old oop kits such as the fire engine. I'm trying to remember what scale that was in but it slips my mind now. it might be a viable option for another truck to add to my fire station diorama.

Don't look for the clear turn signal lenses for the front. They are not there. They were never part of the clear tree.
