I thought twice about posting pics of my WIP because of my slow building time but then I figured what the heck so here it goes. I've had this kit since I was young. I tried to paint it in the CF colors. If I remember correctly and seeing how I have the new interior pieces, I never did finish the interior. I've since decided to redo this truck. I started the rebuild last year sometime and it's just been sitting on the bench waiting for more work to be done on it. I have very few pics of the truck in the old condition. I dedided to take pics after I started the rebuild. I used purple power for the paint stripping. Just let it sit a while in the bath and the paint came right off the cab. Here's one of the Cummins motor before I repainted it Cat Yellow........ I know..... Johnny

In this pic you can see the gap or line where all the cab pieces meet. Also the motor was just freshly repainted and setting in the frame in theses pics. The fuel tanks are from the Revell snap tite Pete. Wheels are the kit originals with Ertl tires.

In these pics it shows where I took care of where all the cab lines met with a little work and putty. I lost a few of the rivet details but I figured once all the paint was on and all the little details you would hardly notice the rivets gone. I still have one more spot thats giving me a little bit of trouble but I should have that all taking care of tonight. I also added strips of styrene underneath the cab to represent the Black rubber spray guards.

Here's a shot of the frame with a little work done on it. The motor is mounted. The radiator is repainted and in. Mudflaps and quarter fenders are mounted. The color I'm using is Duplicolor Light Metallic Blue. I'm thinking Light Blue Cab to match the frame with a White stripe and Black pinstriping between the Blue and the White.

I need some of your guy's help now. I'm rebuilding this without any instructions. Does anyone out there have a pic of either the directions or the model itself. I need to see what all the exhaust and air breather connections look like. The only thing I want to do different is add a second air breather behind the cab. Twin straight pipes with twin breathers !! Oh Yeah!!

Phoneguy:Thanks, that was a great help right there. I see by the instructions it had the air intake underneath the cab. I want mine off the back of the truck. Looks like I'll have to fab something up.

Here is one pic from hanks Do a goggle search for freightliner and or junk yards you should find what you need,I've seen a few varieties. One I recall had one oval shaped top sitting on two pipes. Also go to hanks truck photos and look in the old truck photos of his forum section.I can scan a hand drawing of a duel set up from a spec book of one my dad ordered in the early seventies if anyones interested.
