Does anyone know when the Cummins N-14 Series was introduced? I have a Revell Snap Peterbilt 359 that I want to take the You-Know-Who engine out of it and replace it with the N-14. Since the Revell Peterbilt 359 is a 1980-1987 truck, I want to make sure if this engine is correct for a factory truck. I realize that once a truck leaves the factory anything goes!

The N14 appeared in the early 1990's, maybe '89-'91 from what I've seen. Not sure of the exact year, but it's right in that time frame. Of Course many trucks have been re-powered with one, like the '78 Pete 352 I saw in Overdrive years ago. I hope that helps.

Helps a lot, Ray Thanks. In your opinion, is the N-14 a decent engine?

It's my favorite engine. It was always the first thing I looked for when purchasing a truck. I only bought the ISX I had because Cummins quit making the N14 in '02. Both of my N14s have gone over 1,000,000 miles with no overhaul, and minimal repairs, so that's good enough 4 me. It's fairly easy to work on, too, except for a few things. I've always been a Cummins guy anyway, but this is by far my favorite.

The earliest I have seen a N14 in is a 92. I believe prior to this they were all mechanical engines.
