Today I discovered I have a new aspiring modeler in the house. I got up from my bench and my grandson Steven tried to take over. Normally he goes over to the stash shelf and points at all the trucks in the boxes. Since I always have a camera near the bench I couldn't resist getting these of him at work....... I guess I better keep an eye on my stash, got this feeling they may start disappearing soon. Oh well some one has to build them.

This is cute. I like your workbench. So, incidentally, what are you, sorry, Steven working on there?

No not sorry at all. Just surprised as this is the first time he has done this. I had to act fast though as I was taking the pictures he grabbed the exacto knife. That could of been ugly as he is just over 2. I actually can't wait till I can start teaching him to build. He seem intrested now. We'll see as he gets a little older. I know my kids tried but lost intrest because there is no action to it like a video game.

My 3 yr old granddaughter is almost at the same point. She has to climb in my lap and either watch me or "help" me.

My 3 year old son & 5 year old daughter like to help as well. I like to encourage them, but when I'm working on 1/700 photoetch railings, well you know. Trucks are another story.

We'll see as he gets a little older. I know my kids tried but lost intrest because there is no action to it like a video game. I agree. I gave my 14 yr old stepson a handful of kits out my collection, as well as a paint set and a few other items. Well, he did build the snap Pete, but that is pretty much it. He lost interest. He likes trucks, just not building them I guess. There is one good thing, though. Unlike his older brother, he does do things that don't involve an X-Box controller , and I'm happy about that. He's a drummer for the school marching band, and he enjoys that, so that's good.
