I thought I would share some photos from my recent trip west. This is the load I delivered Tuesday in Miami, Arizona to a copper mine. It's one of the most interesting loads I ever had. How would you like to have to change these tires?? ;D ;D ;D These tires are 11'9" wide, or should I say tall since they're laying down. The whole load weighs 47,000#, which makes each of the 6 tires weigh in at roughly 7,834# a piece. The tread area measures more than 3 1/2 feet across. Here are the big beasts that will use these. They are Komatsu 830E-AC dump trucks. This one was being worked on by the mine's truck garage, which is where I unloaded. AS the guys from Cummins Rocky Mountain worked on it, I got to hear(and feel) the massive engine roar. I wonder how much money is parked right there. Here are some "action shots" as I drove the muddy road through the mine. I hope you enjoyed them.

Those things are HUGE! I cannot immagine the fuel consumption of those things. Hopefully they don't have to change the tires very often.
In a way, these pics remind me on the first season of Ice Road Truckers when they were delivering to the diamond mines
Nice shots. Thanks for sharing. There's a Miami, AZ? Learn something new every day!

It's about 90 miles straight north of Tuscon, just west of Globe on US 60.

Actually these are built like a train. The diesel engine actually drives a generator. The truck is mostly electric. At leat that is what I learned on the history channel. But either way still an impressive piece of machinery. They get abot 5 years out of a set of tires according to goodyear (also on the history channel. The price tag per good year is in the thousands per tire. Hey Ray looks like you need some latches on that tool box. They would look nicer than that bungie cord. My shop is slow if you need them installed.

Now that means there's no transmission or cluthch, right? As 2 my trailer, it could use some work. The handle on my box hung up and broke off in my hand one day . I just keep 4getting to get a new one. I did change the taillight with the missing lens(thanks 2 a blowout ).
