My wife has suggested that there needs to be a book written about the truck models and modelers that are frequenting these forums, especially this one. I think that she was hinting that I do it.
I agree that one should be written but my writing has been in the short sci-fi/fantasy stories and I've never undertaken such a task as this. I am giving it some consideration though, but I'd definately be willing to pass it on to somebody else. LOL
I do have some questions for the board.
1/ Would you be willing to have your work in a book? This would include a short biography of where you live and how long you've been modeling, and a picture of you.
2/ Would you be willing to write captions for the pictures? This would allow you to include all of the information that you want included.
3/ What suggestions would you give for such a book?
I'll probably have more questions as I research this further. This isn't something that I take lightly. We have some of the greatest modelers that this hobby has ever known, and my focus is on the now. If somebody has some good history on some of those that have left us, I'd consider including it, but mostly as a lead in or foreword to the book.
I'm not making any promises, but I do think that a work such as this is important. I may be in over my head, but I'm going to do some research as to the feasibility of this undertaking.

Yes Doug, it definitely would be a huge undertaking, but one worth the efforts, that's for sure. I think a book like this might also go better if there were how-to articles, kit history and so forth as well. Maybe have those who contribute to the book tell their favorite kits and why as well as why they build trucks and their fondest recollections of them. Just a couple suggestions...

What about a Price Guide for such kits in certain conditions??? that would be a pretty good selling point. What about having a page with aftermarket suppliers and stuff?? im just shooting around ideas, not sure how good they are..

A price guide is a fluctuating guide Chris. It would be hard to print anything in a book such as this as the market fluctuates considerably as the economy fluctuates. Suffice it to say the kits that could be had for under $10 years ago bring sometimes 10 times that in today's market.

This would be an awesome idea. I think to include pictures of modelers pojects with a bio would be cool. I also think a tips and tech would also be great. I know I look at the pic's in the showroom section of the forum and I'm amazed at the detail. There's nothing modern out there like this for truck modelers. I think it would be a good thing.

I love the idea. I would like to see a "how-to" portion in the book.
