I am a new member and thought you all might like to see the type of modeling I do. The subject is an old Mack Off Highway truck which is presently on display at the Museum here in Oregon up at Oakridge south of Eugene. For the model I took the Monogram 1926 Logging Truck and did some heavy changes to get it to the right era. The Grill is out of the Autocar kit (AMT) which closely matched the one in the original truck. the hood I formed from evergreen and had to re-power it with an old Cummings non turboed engine. The stack has a scratch built spark arrester on it as most of the earlier trucks here in the area had. On the frame is a small tank which I made to represent the trickle oil unit for the small driving sprocket of the chain drive. The square fuel tank is scratch built and the round water tank came from the AMT Autocar kit. The frame was extended and modified for addition of the stinger tail, Fuel tank and side frame water bunker. The bunks and trailer are all scratch built using Evergreen plastic and a few bits of wood. after I completed the model I weathered it extensive to show the use and abuse which showed on the original, from years of working in the woods and sitting outside in the weather of the Pacific Northwest, at the museum. That's REALLY cool! Original too, I must say. I live in Bend, and make trips occasional through Oakridge. I never knew they had such a museum. I'll have to check out this museum some time. Nice work on the Mack. How about a few more pictures, huh-huh-huh? Dan

Nice work muleskinner, I love the old stuff. I live in Cottage grove and was just in Oakridge two weeks ago cracksealinng some of their streets, and was right by the museum. It was closed but I do want to go to it. I have to find out their hours. I guess from the post that Mark and beetlebuilt posted you are working on an old D8 cable blade. I would love to see that. Great work on the logtruck. Dave

I trucked thru Oakridge for many years and also won 2 of the parades there with my highway rigs in the '70's. Never knew of the museum. Mike
